My daughter has recently gotten a laptop and is taking all manner of surveys. I think she has created a monster. It seems that once you have put your name on certain surveys and information seeking platforms it is right next to impossible to get your name off of them and get these people who keep calling us to stop.
I know for a fact that these 'unsubscribe' sites don't work. You know where you click down at the bottom of a email where it say 'unsubscribe', it takes you to another page where it might ask why you don't want to receive the info any longer or it has you put in the email address you are requesting a ceasing of info being sent to, etc. It will tell you that it may take a few days up to a few weeks to have this information go through the system and for the emails to stop.
Hog wash! In 8 out of 10 times the info continues well past the allotted time.
So, the bottom line on this is to not put your info out there. Call and request info. But, know that if you put your info out there it is going to take an act of congress to get those emails and phone calls to stop.
If you have any ideas on how to get this to stop please do share it with us. I used to have a number you could call but have lost it.

Trying to stop such unsolicited contacts is virtually impossible.
For some unknown reason I began receiving regular emails from some UK based comedian and entertainer informing me of available dates for booking. I finally got fed up and emailed back asking why I was receiving such nonsense. His response was to apologise and claimed he had mistakenly thought that I was an agent. He immediately offered to stop the mails, but several months later they began again.
I am not on the verge of responding with abusive emails as a last resort.

I try to not do much surveys that request personal information because I wouldn't want them to call. Hopefully you can block those numbers with your phone?

You need to sign up for the National Do Not Call Registry.

I also wanted to throw out there that sometimes those links for removal of email is a phishing exercise to see if the email is an active one.

@beaniefanatic13 ....I used to have a number for the Do Not Call Registry. I will have to check and see if I can do that. Phishing, huh?

If they are for certain things you may get a phone call.
