A Year Ago Life Was Bleak

Things were pretty bleak. We could pay our bills but stretching the budget for food was a very tricky thing. We ate a lot of macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, those dreadful ramen noodles and other concoctions I came up with in an almost bare cupboard. I even utilized food pantries at times just to keep us going.
I applied for job after job with not a word from any of them. When I decided to reapply to one I barely put anything on the application. Just my name, phone number and that I had worked for the company in the past. I never expected to hear back from them. Imagine my surprise when they did call me. It was the beginning of better things and was meant to happen.
What a wonderful feeling it is to have a job and a pay check every two weeks. I can pay bills, feed my family, a bit for saving and even have some left over to do what I want.
No matter how down things seem remember there is always something new around the corner. Looking forward to a bright future.

It was difficult and discouraging. To have things change so quickly after I got my job was great.

@irishidid It must still have been quite difficult until you had been working for a while and accumulated a few stores, paid a few bills, etc.
