There is too much that could be said about this article. In fact, I am actually still reading it!
I thought I would pop in and post a link to the article here, however, as I know several others who would be interested in "Travelling to Medieval Markets"
Oh how I love HistoryExtra.com !
Question though : In the article they refer to d (example : 12d) is D dollars I assume?
Nevermind just answered my own question.

For sure I won't be buying my spices there, it's worth their weight in Gold, that's why they killed each other when they colonized Asian countries for spice.

Sad to think that they'd kill over spices.

@ScribbledAdNauseum They needed it badly for their food, especially their meat, remember, this was an era where refrigeration did not exist, wonder how they would handle meat and meat products in that market. Oh yes people still kill for gold or money till now so it would come as no surprise if they killed for spices if it was worth as much as gold.

@ScribbledAdNauseum surely you saw that spices could cost well over a weeks wages for a skilled workman, much less a farmer or menial.

Things certainly have changed since the Dark ages and the shopping 'centers' they had then. We can shop and order almost anything online now days too. Many things have changes. D=$
Spices weren't easy to get back then so they were much more expensive and hard to come by.
