Finally, the knitted doll is done

After finishing the knitted doll and the dress, I decided to crochet a hat, a pair of shoes, and then a bag for the doll. I also crocheted a small heart-shaped bag, to put a "Happy Birthday" garland inside. Except for the doll, I did all the rest on the day itself.
I wrapped it with fabric, put inside a box and tied with a fabric as well, to look like a present, and gave it to my son. He was happy to open the gift, and found the little doll. He likes the dress, hat, bag and shoes as well.
Though I have been really busy working on this little doll for the past few days, I am glad it was done on time, and at least I could give it to my son on his birthday. But, I really need to plan ahead and make the gifts earlier, so I don't need to always rush for it till the last minute.
My son put the doll beside his bed, and carries the doll with him around today too. I am glad to see him still play with dolls at this age.

That's cute and I love the finishing details like the purse , hat, shoes. Will you make a boy doll to accompany this doll?

That's a really good idea! This doll is actually just 8.5 inch, I am planning or hoping to make 18 inch Waldorf doll. But, making a smaller size is easier and faster to achieve. I am planning to make more accessories for this doll first, perhaps a doll for her would be good.
My little girl also has the same doll, so making accessories for both dolls and letting the children play with them would be fun!

@infatuatedbby Yes, I'd like that as well. I always liked to have doll house and those accessories when I was young, but I didn't have any. I am not buying those toys for my children, I think it'd be better to make them ourselves. A pet is a good idea too! It seems like you enjoy playing with doll and the accessories too.

@kaka135 That would be fun to make accessories for the doll. Maybe even a pet for the doll too would be fun.
And if they want - your kids can make a house out of cardboard and a bed. Because those doll houses and toy accessories can be quite expensive.

Wow! This is a masterpiece! You are very talented! That's great that you can knit such a lovely doll. I hope your daughter will carry your talent so that it will not be ended. My mom knits so well but I didn't learn anything from her. She can knit nice sweaters for my son but I can't do it by myself. One day when I have a grand child, I can only buy a sweater

Thanks a lot! I learned how to knit because I want to teach my children to knit, both my son and my daughter, and I am quite surprise that I really love making these things for my children now. (I never thought I'd enjoy knitting or crocheting).
Both my mom and mother-in-law are good at sewing clothes, but I haven't learn that yet. I used to think I'd never learn that, now I'll put that in my to-do list. I might not be able to sew clothes for my children yet, perhaps my grandchildren in future.
Buying a sweater to grandchildren is sweet too. Your grandchildren will definitely be happy with it as well.

@youless I used to think about that as well, I ended up knit and crochet more than I sew. Perhaps you can try to hand sew, though it's more time consuming, it's nice to do as well. I think one of the reasons I still don't get to learn much about machine sewing is that my children always want to use the sewing machine when I am using. They did use the machine to sew before, by just stepping the pedal. So, I always prefer to knit, crochet or sew with hands.
You can try with hand sewing if you want to make the clothes for the teddy bear. How about just a shoulder bag for it first? A shoulder bag might be easier to start with.

@kaka135 I have the traditional and digital sewing machines at home. But today my mom seldom uses it. As buying the cloth to make clothes may be even much more expensive than buying new clothes. But in fact I like to try to make the clothes for my son's Teddy bear but it may seem to be a day dream.

@Shavkat I know some boys do not play with dolls, or some people think boys shouldn't play with dolls or any "girl games", even in my country, but I do not think so.
Since my son was young, I didn't classify which can be done by girls or boys, I think these should be neutral activities for all the kids. I don't tell my son that blue is for boys, and pink is for girls too. I think young kids shouldn't be categorized by all these.
So, I teach my son knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, doing the house work, let him play with dolls or any so called "girl games", let him choose the color he likes. I told him boys do not usually wear skirts and keep long hair, but did not say boys can't do those.
My dad is one of the people who thinks something should be done by girls, not boys, but I always "remind" him that I don't practice that in our home.
I have seen a picture with this question quite often on Facebook, and I agree with it: "You let your son plays with dolls? Aren't you afraid he will turn out to be..... A GOOD FATHER?"
Sorry for a long reply.

@abrielle28 That sounds interesting. I have not try to use the monaco threads before. I think it's always fun to make something out of something.

Thanks.
It's good for me to know that. I didn't really know there are some people who do not let the boys play with dolls. I know my dad thinks boys shouldn't play with dolls, but he didn't "not allow". I also see boys playing with dolls in my country, but of course, I don't know if there are some families that do not let the boys too.

I thought knitting can only do socks, blankets, beanie hats and sweaters. I never knew that you can actually do something 3 dimensional.

I always thought of knitting scarves only too, and my first knitting project was a scarf, it took me very long time to finish it, and get bored as well.
I think there are different types of knitting, what I know are knit in flat and knit in round. The doll I knitted is actually still knitted in one flat piece, then I sewed them up and made it into a 3 dimensional doll, something like making a tube.
