I believe the most Popular Animals on Youtube are Grumpy cat and Boo the Pomeranian. There is nothing really special about them aside from being super cute and being the face of thousand Memes. They don't really have any special talents but they were very famous.
Then We have KoKo the Gorilla, She is a gorilla that understands American English and she can do the freaking sign language but for some reason she is kind of obscure. Her videos have lots of views but they don't seem to have as much impact as the silly cat and dog videos.
She can play DVD's to watch movies and she will even narrate the story after watching.
I wish KoKo the Gorilla is more popular so she can spread awareness so people will save Gorillas because they were an endangered specie that needs to be saved.
She takes care of her pet cats and it is strange that animals are able to take care of animals of another species.
I embedded her most popular video and it's the video where she met the late actor Robin Williams met her in person.
If you are given an opportunity to meet her in person, would You accept it?
Robin Williams met Koko in 2001. It was a very cheerful encounter for both, and Koko has treasured it to this day. When Koko learned of Robin's passing (on A...

Most people though are afraid of Gorillas. What questions would you ask her? I mean she actually understands English.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I guess I'd have to think about that, but since I like cats, I guess we could talk about cats.

@dawnald That would be a long conversation, she actually named her cats. Which I find fascinating.

@CaptAlbertWhisker How do you cope with living like this. I would also ask her if she was lonely living between two worlds. . I would ask her if she had a mate .Did she find other apes boring.

Loved this video for sure.
Definitely, if given a chance, I will love meeting Koko.. Agreed, many are scared of Gorillas (maybe because of their huge shape and appearance), but this video does show that Koko is already a well behaved lady. I might not be allowed to bring in food and drinks for her, but if allowed, it would only add to my interests.
Oh yes, whilst looking at this particular video that you shared on the discussion, I also was suggested a couple of "Conversation with KoKo" videos and I loved them. It is just amazing to see her respond with such accuracy.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes, there was a video with this title suggested too. I did not have the heart to watch it because I still mourn the loss of Robbin Williams. And it would be painful to see Koko crying for him.

I don't know them but thank you for the info. Let me check it out on Youtube. Seems like it is really exciting video to watch. These animals are just so smart.

The fact she understands english, means you can actually talk to her and she can actually reply to your questions. You will need an interpreter that does sign language though.

I wonder what will happen if we make her watch rise of the planet of the apes. I am sure they will never let her watch that movie.

It is kind of Sad that Wild gorillas are territorial. Koko could have been our interpreter to her kind. I am not sure though if she speaks the Gorilla language since she talks in American Sign language.
She is also an animal with pet animals, she is a cat lady:
Koko's kittens, Ms. Gray and Ms. Black, who appeared first in the video "Meet Koko's New Kittens," are growing into cats. Koko enjoys engaging with them as t...
