The touble of dieting

Today, I decided to start cutting my food intake because I realize that I need to take charge of my weight. I am now overweight :( therefore I need to watch my eating habits, the food that I eat and to exercise. But the problem with starting to be fit is the temptation around me. Like today, I verbalized that I should eat the healthy stuff but the problem is that my brain become hyperalert on the food around me. I keep on talking about food today. Life is though, hehehe I can't seem to stop thinking about food. Do you ever had that problem at first? Do you have funny dieting stories to tell? Because it is certainly a struggle to be on the right track.

My problem with following a diet is the cost. I have very little money available to spend on food, and I am supposed to avoid starches and carbohydrates because I am diabetic, but eating the way I am supposed to costs twice as much as eating the way I can afford to. I really need to apply for public aid/food stamps to help offset the cost, because my a1c readings are starting to get rather high again, and if I don't keep that under control I could put myself at some serious health risk.

With my mother being diabetic there is a high possibility that I am too. I am just afraid to have myself checked. I also agree with you that somehow trying to eat healthy is more costly than just eating what you want to eat.

@JolietJake @dazzledlady I also have the same problem. When I checked on some diet plans, one thing I noticed is the money I need to spend to buy those healthy food listed on the plan. More often than not, they are expensive and not available in nearby market or groceries.

I used to be overweight. I lost some weight, and I was quite happy with the result. Recently I have been eating unhealthy food and I have gained weight, so I need to change my habits again. I love sweet things, and it is a challenge to stay away from them, but I am trying to cut back on those things.

Yes, you will encounter many trials especially if you are on the first stage of dieting. First, discipline yourself not to eat too much carbo, sweets and use only small plate so that you will not be tempted to put more rice, drink 2 to 3 glasses of water 30 minutes before meal so that when you eat, you are already full, do exercise gradually like brisk walking for 15 minutes for 5 days and if you're used to it, increase the time of walking, eat plenty of vegetables, fruits and fish and prefer only steaming, maybe this tip can help you and that is what I did before, I weigh 104 kls and now, I maintain my weight of 75 kls.

Walking and drinking lots of water help a lot. I do this when reporting and going out of work. Not only did I save a lot, I also burned some calories.

Dieting was never in my vocabulary when I was younger. I ate what I liked then. Now that am 58 & a decade before? Gosh! I started getting sick. With that, a list of bawal was soooooo long! I am just thankful because I had a lot of those on the list years back. Ha! Ha! Ha! Do I still need to diet now?.Not anymore, my dear!

Following a strict diet plan is indeed a struggle. To keep me from being tempted to go away with my diet, I drink lots of water - that way, I don't feel hungry and still be able to stick with my diet.
