I love Japanese Bento box. Today is just the weather for it. I went to my favourite Japanese restaurant for a special bento & miso soup. The bento had: - Egg rolls - Karaage (fried chicken) - Chicken Teriyaki - Salmon katsu - Salads and pickles. The Japanese waitress was impressed I ate the entire box of rice with my chopsticks! Do you like Japanese food? How good are you with chopsticks?

I'm very good with chopsticks! Well I grew up in a Japanese household - so of course I've used chopsticks all my life . I love a good, assorted bento box!

@Drosophila I have a smaller version of those big bento boxes - oh, but it's so much easier to just order the food from the restaurant (too much work to make all those individual things!). My friend loves karaage the most too! Just give me anything that goes with rice - my priority is rice - and all is good!

Yep and this one actually came in a proper wooden box, with layers to take off! Love kaarage!

@much2say Oh this particular rice in the picture is great! It's sprinkled with seaweed and fish flavouring, I can eat it on its own no problem. The chef is a trained sushi chef and returned to Japan for additional training last year. He came back and the food quality went through the roof!

I am very proficient with chopsticks, learned how to use them living in Hawaii. We have a take off Japaneses Rest. about 30 mins. away. They are OK, but nothing to brag about. I do love miso soup.

@Drosophila They started buying left and right after the war. Our landlord was Japanese, quite an interesting guy.

Once I can get them mastered, and it takes a while, I'm okay with them. But once I put them down, I need to relearn how to use them all over again. I'm not good with Oriental cuisine. Somehow it doesn't like me very much.

@just4him ya in that case if you try gluten free soy sauce you'd be fine. Ya most Asian cooking adds soy, if you don't get on with gluten, it won't agree with you. Or you can maybe try something cooked without soy and see the difference. My best friend is gluten sensitive so she always asks the chef for no soy.

@Drosophila To my knowledge I'm not gluten sensitive, but I'm not ruling it out either. I seem to do better when I eat gluten free products. I have a phlegm problem that just irritates the heck out of me. It doesn't seem to be present when I eat gluten free food.

I've had Chinese food but never Japanese. And I can use chopsticks pretty well! I've heard about Bento Box but never had one. Yours looks delicious!

The only Japanese food I'm familiar with is sushi. The first time i ate it was at a sushi restaurant on a date with a girl of Asian origin. She insisted that I should eat with chopsticks which I with the best of my abilities tried to comply with. I was very nervous at the time because not only was it my first time to eat with chopsticks, it was also on a date! Quite surprisingly it actually went rather well in my opinion. I thought it would be a total mess, that I would keep dropping the food that I was trying to pick up. Although I couldn't pick up and eat the sushi very fast, I didn't really drop anything which really was a success for me.

I love Asian food which includes Japanese. But I'm lousy with chopsticks. I like the idea of the bento boxes although I've never had one per se. But the food they put in those boxes, I eat as a regular meal. One of my daughters is good with chopsticks.

I love Bento boxes and sushi. I have gotten a lot better at using Chopsticks, but have a hard time with big pieces of sushi.
