a decent proposal

I proposed.
It didn't involve getting down on one knee. I hadn't already bought my own ring. I didn't ask my {future} MiLs permission ... I simply insisted on a day out at the seaside, found a cosy bench behind some beach huts on the promenade and enjoyed some people-watching as {future} Husband opened the little box and read through the cards.
He said, Yes! but not *that* enthusiastically, I breathed a sigh of relief and then we celebrated with lattes in a posh little café on the sea front.
That was on the 29th February 2004, a little under two years after we got together. I'm inclined to believe that if I'd have left the proposing to him, I would still be waiting, twiddling my thumbs and wondering what is wrong with me.
Ho-hum.

Aww sounds beautiful! Not everyday do you hear a story about a woman proposing to a man.
Congratulations! Did you have a wedding ceremony and everything already?

@poppylicious Nothing like taking the bull by the horns. I don't know how idchave felt if my wife has proposed to me. I didn't give her a chance though; I popped the question 2 weeks after going out with her for the first time.

@xFiacre I've never thought about it from a man's point of view. Would some men find it demasculating? Did I make that word up?!

You don't hear of women proposing, and good for you. You took the bull by the horns and did what needed to be done. I would have never proposed to my ex husband, as i just didnt have it in jme to do so. I didn't have to worry about it, as he proposed and we were married for 35 years, and now divorced for 8 years. It was great while it lasted though, and now that I am single, I am enjoying doing things without being told I can't.

@Poppylicious Getting a divorce and having to be alone was hard for me at first too, but I hve got used to it after 8 years. I struggle all the time, but I am still here, and still surviving, and I am able to come and go as I please, and that is a good thing, as I like to be able to come and go as I please withotu someone telling me I can't..

My Mumsy loves being single. She's been single for so long I think she'd struggle having to share her life with someone else!

Really? Actually, I'm not surprised. I don't know any other women who have proposed, leap year or not. :)
