A week ago 4 teenage girls decided to rob me while I was walking home from the train station. One of them was grabbing my phone, another was grabbing my hair, another grabbing my bag, another kicking my head. Before I used to say that when you get robbed just give them what they want but being faced by the situation I wasn't able to just peacefully give them my phone. As an overseas student my phone is very valuable to me cause it is where my employer would contact me every time I have a job. So I held on to my phone and for my dear life. I was only able to let it go when they managed to take my bag as I was confused on which one is my priority. They left me and ran for the last train back at the train station. Adrenaline kicked in and I chased them beaten up and all while shouting for help. Luckily the train police came to my rescue and caught the girls not allowing them to board the next train until they returned my property. Since it was the last train one of them was forced to return my property and take the blame for them 4. She got detained while others were just let go. I was so distressed by what this girls did to me and in fact I told them, "I did not deserve this guys I respected you." They were from an aboriginal Australian race and a lot of people told me to be wary of them but I refuse to be a stereotyping person and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and proper respect. I believed that respecting people could get me a long way. I have always been a trusting person and I've always thought that although the world is not perfect, Australia is relatively safe. The incident had thought me a hard life lesson and now I'm more watchful and vigilant towards the world.

It was indeed shocking. I was definitely caught off guard because I lived in the area for a year now and I used to jog at night and I deem it rather safe. But now I don't even want to go home late anymore since the incident.

@flapiz I can understand. In fact, there is no safety anywhere these days.I live in a small town which once used to be known as peaceful and calm. Now it has become a hub of criminals.Especially the outer area of this town is extremely unsafe.

Indeed it was. My injuries are healing quite fine but I'm still a bit traumatised. I pray that it doesn't happen to other people. It's not easy.

Hello my friend. I am so sorry to read this happened to you. You are in Australia? It is deplorable for teenagers to act this way. I am happy to know that you did not suffer immense damage. Please take care.

Hello my friend, thank you for the warm words. Yes I'm in Perth, Australia. It is indeed deplorable. I can't help but worry about what their future will be.

@TiarasOceanView Thank you that's a beautiful prayer. My wounds are healing. What's left are just tiny scratches and scars. But my mind is still pretty shaken. I think that's the most difficult to heal.

how are you now? I can't believe something like this would happen to you there? but at least the cops were there to assist you. But if this would have happened in our country, there's no way you would be able to catch them.

I'm feeling quite better now mate. I can't believe it either. Never in my life did I expect to get mugged and in all the places here in Australia. But yep I'm lucky enough to get my belongings back. I'm grateful to the cops although I would have been more grateful if they sent me home in their car rather than letting me go home alone in a 15 minute walk. I'm sure in the Philippines I'd get at least an escort cop if not a free ride.

It looks like it was quite a bad experience. Is this a thing that happens often at the train station?

Apparently it is very common here. A lot of people warned me about going home alone at night but the train station is heavily guarded and very bright so it's not one of those places to be wary about. I got mugged just across the train stn around 15 meters away.

Hey Janet, I am not normally brave but I am poor and desperate so I found the right courage. The adrenaline rush did help me a lot too. It was definitely a test of strength and I'd like to say I did pretty well.

Yes indeed. I think if I lost my phone and my passport at that time I'd have lost my sanity. It's been rough for me lately.

A personal attack like that is very traumatic. We humans can be very cruel to each other. It would be a great world if we could trust each other, but unfortunately it's just not the reality. I hope your mental scars as well as your physical ones heal quickly. Stsy safe!

Thanks mate. I used to be really trusting and I realised that it will get me beaten up and eaten by the world so now I am more vigilant. I'm very greatful that I do fitness it helped me a lot survive that attack.

I can't just let them go. Otherwise they'll think that Asians are easy targets cause apparently they like mugging Asians. Plus I'm really broke. I can't afford to buy a new phone. It's more like an act of utter desperation for me and it saved me.

I'm very fine now. The scars are healing pretty well. What I can take from what happened is to be more careful on the road. I don't use my cellphone when I'm walking home anymore and I'm always on the look out for people following me. A bit paranoid but it's better to be safe than sorry.
