Ostara, the Teutonic goddess of spring and dawn

After a winter full of rich food consider a few days of fasting to dispell the toxins our bodies have taken in. Herbal teas are good for cleansing and using spring water is even better. You will have more energy if you eat more fruit and vegetables that will be popping out and up. During this time a more optimistic energy emerges as Ostara brings with her anticipation. She is usually represented with the fertile rabbit at her feet. This is the time when flowers pollinating and foliage begins to appear and is green after their long hibernation. Full of life now with light to bring them forth. With symbols and decorations of your goals and dreams decorate a boiled egg and bury in your garden. It will hatch your dreams.

Ostara's association with Spring is interesting not a goddess I'm that familiar with

@arthurchappell It was from her name that we get the word Easter, although she was more popular North of us.

I hadn't heard of her before either and so thought this would be interesting as a discussion.

@Asylum cool - interesting to see the non-Christian roots of the tradition

I usually associate spring more with the Greek Persephone, although it seems that she is still in Hades according to the weather here today.

@celticeagle I thought that Persephone was better known than Ostara.

Gives a person a fresh start on the spring. Feeling lighter might help when the heat hits too.

I'm ready for some different food - good garden food. Since I can't grow a garden, not that I don't have the room, I don't have the thumb for it - nothing ever grows for me, it's time to make a trip to the store and raid the produce department.

@celticeagle It's way too early for those here. But I'll see them in the months to come. We also have Farmer's Market twice a week in two different downtown locations.

Spring always comes along with fresh new hope and encouragement...brings with it, a lighter step!
