Are You Self-Motivated?

Zig Ziglar said: “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”
Self-motivation is sometimes difficult to achieve, whether it involves cleaning the house or working on a difficult project where you work.
The truth of the matter is that someone else cannot motivate you. They can put you in a position for you to be self-motivated.
Think about it. Your boss can urge you to get busy on a project. Your spouse can NAG you, but the motivation to actually DO something has to come from you.
Incentives can be motivating. I used to work hard to earn FREE trips, but I still had to motivate myself to get busy and do what had to be done or it just didn’t get done.
What do you think?

Setting goals is absolutely necessary. I think it's necessary to set daily goals, weekly goals, monthly goals, annual goals and lifetime goals. Plan your work and work your plan.

@KnehKnah Now that I have retired, I have some really LAZY days, but after working all my life, I feel that I deserve the rest. I stay busy with many different things, but it's very nice to just take a day off whenever I feel I need it.

@IreneVincent Indeed, Ma'am.
And, as I set daily goals, I find myself with a real focus on what to do as I wake up. There is this feeling of, "ok, so you need to start this after breakfast & have to finish this before dinner."
Great!

Yes, sometimes we have to say: "Self! Get moving!" No one is going to do it for you.

That's a good motivation. You want to do a good job whatever the assignment is, and you want to do it correctly.

Yes, it makes sense, doesn't it? Motivation is a daily routine, just like bathing. A person has to keep themselves on track every day to reach their goals in life.

When I was self-employed for 35+ years, I had to be self-motivated. Without a boss to urge me, I had to urge myself. I WAS the "boss" and the employee at the same time. But, I certainly LIKED it that way.

That's the whole point, isn't it? You have to "make up your mind to do something" Once you accomplish that, you are on the road to successfully completing whatever you set your mind to do.
