I Paint On Anything – Wine Glasses

Canada
March 3, 2016 6:05am CST
It true. As I look through my photos I am amazed to find dozens of photos of things I've painted on. Just for fun, not necessarily to make money with. I have been painting since I was in high school. I went to art school, I have used my ability to paint to make money for a long time. I paint on slate now, making interesting signs that sell in stores and tourist places in the area I live in. Years ago my daughter wanted to make her own Christmas ornaments for her tree and for gifts so I bought the chemicals you add to paint that you can use to paint on glass. (Now, you can buy paint that is ready to use on glass.) We had a good time in my studio making ornaments. Then I thought about wine glasses... A long time ago I painted the wine glasses in the photo above and gave them to my sister. She loved them and broke one.... I painted camping scenes on the glasses. Last summer when I was at her home she suggested I take them home and use them since she doesn't drink wine anymore... but I do so I took them home and have enjoyed using them when my girlfriends come over for a glass of wine. Its not hard to do, and the painted glasses needed to be baked after painting them. I'm not sure if the new paint for glass needs to be “cooked” but I imagine it does need to be so the paint won't wash off. Have you ever done this? If you do follow the instructions on the product you use. And have some fun while you're at it.

I would break more glasses than I would finish I'm sure. I wish I had the patience, which I don't.

@PainsOnSlate Go back 20 years and I did all kinds of painting/crafts...but now I'd rather go to a craft show and buy something!

@AbbyGreenhill Now if I go to a show and see something I can do myself, I do it myself.... but only if I really want too.

Wow that's cool! Never tried this yet because you need to bake it. I'd love to sculpt but with no bake materials. Dang. Too many art things I'd like to do all at the same time! It would be nice to really make money out of my art ASAP.

@PainsOnSlate I have been selling some but it doesn't really pay much. Maybe I'm not serious enough as an artist back then...

I have never tried it Paints. It is a great gift you have my friend. Those glasses are stunning. It was very much artistically inclined, but at this time, I am unable to do it sadly. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with us.

You are so lucky to have that talent of being able to paint. I wish I had it, but unfortunately, I don't have an ounce of it.

I do enjoy it and am surprised when people ask me to sketch the simplest things for them because They can't do it...My sister asked me to sketch an angel so she could make it out of stained glass...so simple. (for me)

I admire your creativity and talents, though I never am good at arts. I think I fail in Arts all the time in school. I just cannot draw, and my mind thinks in term of everything in Maths.
