My house still smells so bad of fuel oil

This morning I forgot to give Mike his medicine so I drove to the school and gave it to him.
I had thought that my house smelled a lot better since we got most of the fuel oil leak cleaned up with cat litter.
When I came home from dropping the medicine off I noticed how badly my house still smells of it.
I had a bowl of cereal and was going to clean the dishes and have some coffee. I feel like crying about how bad the house stinks.
Its been snowy here and cold so we can't even open the windows to air it out.
When I went to my dads earlier he could smell it on me and I hadn't even been down in the cellar so the scent is just being picked up on my clothes from being in the house.
There was a bit of an odor to the well water yesterday. I did a lot of laundry and it seems fine now. My throat is still scratchy.
I think I'm going to take a nap and wish the day away so I won't be so upset.
Hopefully after Glenn gets done working he can find something to suck the oil out of the sump pump. That is what is still full of oil and smelling up the house. The rest has been cleaned up with cat litter.

Having a bad smell in the house that you can't get rid of must be a real trial. I hope it dissipates soon.

Glenn didn't get the pump yesterday so it still smells terrible in here. Most of the oil seeped out of the fuel pump now and was around the floor. My dad just came over with a pump and a bucket and we sucked what was left in the sump pump out. All I have to do when I have time now is to shovel the oil filled cat litter out, scoop everything out of the sump pump hole and then wash the floors and bottoms of the totes up with dish soap. Maybe then sprinkle baking soda all over the floor and sweep that up in a few days. Sounds like a lot of work but the worst of it is done now thankfully.

I can see how frustrating this is but think of it in 5 years will you still be worrying about this.
I hope he can get it cleared up, and the smell goes away. Could you open the window and shut the heat off when you leave for a little.
I cant imagine it is good to smell that all the time.
