Election Campaigns

The owner of the company I work with , is generous . And he owns this mall in the picture , where some of his companies have their offices . Whenever an election candidate he is acquainted with , asks for an assistance on his campaign at our province , he would readily provide it . Us , executive assistants , would be assigned to head for each candidate’s town to town campaign . We would be given each 3 cars , 3 staffers , cellphone allowances , food allowances and money for miscellaneous amongst other things needed for the campaign . However , this will be liquidated once we report back to the office. As to our meals , we are in-charge of where and what to eat , but of course we have to ask the candidate what and where he likes us and his staff , to go . What is good is that the candidate would always let us choose . At th e end of the day, we would converge at a place where the campaign proper for all the candidates under their party will be done and it will go on until after midnight . Thus , we were able to go home at the wee hours of the morning . The next day if it is a weekday , we are given the day as our rest day . It is challenging and tiring , yet so enjoyable that’s why I miss it . Have you ever been involved in an election campaign ?

As a quiet type guy, I prefer following my favorite political candidate without making noise about it. In campaigns, I don't like being involved too much in local politics... dangerous venture that requires energy to cope with challenges that may arise. Okay, this depends in what country you are in. I guess I might change if our politics were at least peaceful.

You are correct . It would be dangerous indeed exposing yourself as to who is your candidate . However , it's part of my job to assist them . Although , here in our province , there's no danger because it's a peaceful place and people are peace loving .

Here in the office , most are really volunteering to go with the ones assigned to lead the assistance . Actually, aside from the regular salary , we have additional pay for that . And i know , if its part of your job, you will go too . But i tell you it's enjoyable. You will meet known celebrities and politicians .

This sounds good, I have never been involved in an election campaign, I believe that things work different here, I do not even know how the campaigns are organized.

The staffer of the politician would email days before they arrive , of the itinerary . They bring with them leaflets to be distributed to the people where we will be campaigning . Then , they will converge (the other candidates ) in a place where the formal program will be done to introduce each candidate . This usually happens about 6:00 p.m. until it will be finished . There will be local celebrities to grace the program , as additional attraction .

@LadyDuck Really ? Do they not go to places specially if it's on national level , to personally make themselves know to the voters ?

No, I haven't yet involved any election campaign because I found it not good, I don't like to mingle many kind of people because I felt dizzy when I'm around. I envy you, you can go with it.

Even if its part of your job , you will not go . Besides , it's enjoyable and you get to meet big people like Peter Cayetano . I assisted him when he campaigned as a senator here in Albay and its neighboring provinces . He won . I also assisted , Susan Ople , unfortunately she didn't win as a senator.

we are not in any election campaign, my friend. there is so much trouble if we campaign publicly on one and as you are aware of, up here north, our province is thought of to be included in the election hot spots.

The idea would not appeal to me these days because none of our parties or candidates are really worth campaigning for.

No, never. If I have a chance to do as you did, I would. This is a good chance to get to know the future President or Prime Minister, and I am sure you will have many friends in the government.

Yes, we should practice our right to vote specially that we will be voting for our country's top leaders .

@SIMPLYD If we vote for the wrong candidate our country will either get poorer or get invaded by another country again. We were actually lucky that we have more than 2 candidates. we have more choices compared to Americans who will be stuck with two.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes, that's why the voters should be discerning . Even if they were given money , their votes should be in the right candidate . Indeed , here in our country there are more than two candidates , and it even seems a lot likes to be the President .

I used to campaign for gordon back in 2010. but recently, my mom's involvement in her organization has made her support for the LP candidates.

Actually , the itinerary is emailed to us by the assistant of the politician . From there we form the group to distribute the leaflets they send us to give out during the campaign as we go to towns for the politician to meet and shake hands with the voters .
