I am reading Poor Charlie’s Almanack at the moment. When he talks about the dangers of computer, he says that people calculate too much and think too little. I agree with him completely. We can use Excel to analyze to death anything, including the likelihood of getting killed in various ways. We can analyze so many things, calculate using complicated formulas, yet we think too little. We rather let someone does the thinking, and tells us about it. Many people are just parroting after the experts. When the experts say that the job market is good or bad or will be good or bad, we believe it without knowing whether they are stating fact or opinion.

Some people act like blind sheep who mindlessly follow anything and everything others do or say. I feel that its silly and dangerous - Just think of cult followers and radical terrorists.

The shocking thing is that with so many years of education that emphasizes critical thinking, many highly educated people still do not think.

There definitely are people who don't think for themselves and take it as gospel what they hear or read online

Especially when those are so-called "experts". I think we have to learn to do some research and think for ourselves.
