Many folks know this southern gentleman from his book The Great Santini. Pat Conroy shoveled deep into the manure that emanates from family.
He gave me much. South Carolina; its bayous and bays; its sunsets and tides. The Water is indeed wide, dear Conrack. You were a born teacher and poet. I am sorry you left us so early. Such physical pain should not be heaped on anyone. Thank you again, Pat.

@teamfreak Pat's dying at 70 stopped my hubby in his tracks cause hubby is going on 62. I need to find that Conrack movie and buy it.

Sad to see him go. I've read Santini, Beach Music, and the Lords of Discipline. Beach Music especially got me in some uncomfortable places. But he was a good writer.
