Minted, is that the right word for it? Oh well you know what I mean.
I was scrolling through my facebook timeline this morning when I came across this. One of the groups I follow are for readers and the admin is based out of the UK. They posted a link to the information on the coins and I asked for a reputable firm to get these coins.
I'll post both links below for those who are curious / collectors. The coins will celebrate William Shakespeare and Beatrix Potter
Article about it :
Link to where you can purchase these for yourself : http://www.royalmint.com/
If you look at the "shop" you'll see all the sets they offer, including Shakespeare's and Beatrix Potter's.
Do you collect coins?
A series of new British coins to celebrate authors, and other notable events and people who have shaped Britain are to be minted this year.

I haven't looked her up. She sounds familiar but I can't think of what I've read of hers. Did she do easter stories for children?

@Mike197602 THanks for that. I felt dumb as I couldn't remember how I knew the name.

I have a big coin collection but I don't actively collect anymore.
I really liked the look of the £2 coin so hopefully they'll be around soon.

I have a small collection somewhere that was started by my grandfather. I hope I've not lost it but I can't think of where it might be right now. It's actually just coins of various denominations for the year. Nothing special other than it starts from my year of birth and continues on for about 18 years.

I am not much of a collector myself. I do have a small collection that my grandfather collects for all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

That's cool and imaginative. They took the concept of commemorative stamps and applied to collectible coins.

It's not exactly a new concept, but I've not heard of them comemorating authors on coins before. I have a family member who purchases from the Franklin Mint a lot, Susan B. Anthony coins etc. This will be my first time seriously collecting them.
