Every 10 seconds a child is trafficked in this very nation and abroad. Approximately 3,287 people are sold, kidnapped and forced into slavery on a daily basis. And, remember, this is just the reported numbers. This is happening all around us on a daily basis.
One of the most serious human rights violations is the exploitation of children and woman as sex slaves. The sex trades generates about 32 Billion annually. A human being can be sold into slavery for less than $100. The perpetrators of this move women into neighborhoods and set them up in a normal apartment. They could live next door. They are kept isolated and made to do whatever they are told or they are beaten. Some are given drugs so they are totally dependant on the trafficker.
About 55% of girls living on the streets of America are living in sexual slavery.
There are 600,000-800,000 women, children and even men trafficked across state lines annually. 50% of these are children and 80% are children and women.

Yes, and the scary part is that they could live in our neighborhoods and we might never know.

This is something that we have all heard about but rarely think about. Despite the huge numbers involved, they constitute a very small percentage of society and therefore it is something that most of us never encounter throughout our lives. As a result it is usually only associated with television shows.

But we need to make it know and discuss it so it stays alive in the public's eye.

@celticeagle That is where the problem lies because people view it as in the media but not near them.

@celticeagle - Well worth mentioning - because this crime doesn't threaten us we tend to ignore it. Almost 1 in every 200 people alive today is a slave of some sort. That's just staggering.

Yes, and no way out for them. That's why I say we need to watch even in our very neighborhoods for weird things going on.

Sadly I have more or less been protected of this sort of thing until I saw it with my own eyes. It is horrific and those who force these youngsters into this kind of existence should be sent to prison for life.

That is a sad situation and one that grows worse all the time. So many of the kids are runaways looking for something better than home and finding much worse.
