I have read several books about the Bermuda Triangle and mysterious disapperances of ships at sea and planes.

They say no ship was recovered and the people were never heard from again. It is the subject of many books and movies. Speculation about places on the planet where a plane or a ship disappears out of the blue, in thin air when no storms were reported and yet in spite of the attempts to find them they were all reported lost forever. Some even believe the ships went missing due to some strange and as of yet undetermined scientific anomaly that defies logical explanation.

Last thing I saw on the subject related to ships and the theory was freak waves.

@enlightenedpsych2 I don't remember that. I think magnetic anomalies were more back a few years ago when they had an impact on pre gps navigation in ships and planes.

@enlightenedpsych2 in the thing I saw they did present some evidence that freak waves may be responsible. With those earthquake/tsunami buoys they sometimes show data that is suggestive of a freak wave that can capsize a ship. The link is interesting and from a reputable site and does specifically relate to the bermuda triangle.
Knowing what conditions the towering freak waves form under help researchers predict where they are most likely.

Forces of nature are the first thing investigators look for then pilot error and then mechanical or other malfunctions related to the normal function of the crafts.

Yea, my mom read about them back in the 70's. At that time a lot was being written about the subject.

They seem to find no wreckage of any kind and they don't seem to have a clue what is causing the disappearances of these ships and planes.

The ocean is a large area though. Many known airplane crashes have found no traces even when a possible engine malfunction had occurred resulting in a crash landing at sea.

Those strange events remind me of the Twilight Zone! I am sure there is some scientific explanation, but I'm surprised that all these years they haven't figured it out.

The worst case scenario would be shot down by enemy fire and the big cover up.

I have often wondered about the Bermuda Triangle. I even read somewhere, where it could be some kind of time portal.

Aren't there a few places on Earth where these kinds of things occur more often than they should?

Yes. There are other areas, as well as the Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic.
