"Everything you need is within yourself."

Is the secret only secret to us? Do we know its answer already inside of us?

I saw this message written on a card just today. Is it true or not though? Who is the "you", and who is the "yourself " being referred to here, then? Who am I to be the one to find in myself what I need, am I perhaps split apart in some way then? What is the point of anything else existing if it is all in me though? What about air, food, and water? Are these basics also all included to in this blanket statement which uses the word "everything" which must mean all, including these inclusively then too, now mustn't it? Indirectly, this means, in its way I suspect, that we have no needs, unless we create a need for a need, and that's maybe all it can ever really mean, or can it? Otherwise, if we take this statement literally, it is rather meaningless to a life existing only seemingly in the reality of the livingness of this life, although fundamentally speaking, we are in a way connected to all, and so because of this all can come through to us in some way, like this, or perhaps through others. What is not known yet, is known by God, and how could it not be, because he is the knower in which all knowing resides. By connecting to God then, we can know all we know, and all that he knows too, a wonderful thing indeed. Love is the connector that brings you all you need either from yourself, God, or from others. That's my take on this opening statement. "Everything you need is within yourself." Have you any other interpretations as to what it can be really referring to here?

"To have everything i need ... no matter what it might be... within me" is a confidence booster. It means i can and will survive on my own no matter what the circumstances might be. Nobody else can take care of me better than me so i depend on no other person.

Yes, it is a confidence booster. I sort of feel its very true, but then I think to myself that no man is an island either, and surely it could not apply to a helpless baby, dependent on its parents at that early stage of its life. And yet, maybe it does too in a way. Even that baby has what's needed to survive within itself, and the plan for its future life is probably within it too, that is if we believe that God has created a unique purpose for every being living.

@innertalks Babies may seem helpless and dependent. Their parents might leave or abandon them but they always have God and his angels to protect them.

@mammots Yes. I agree, and it is surprising our resilient they are too, these babies. They seem to survive sometimes for days buried under rubble in earthquakes, or other disasters, for example. Of course, if what you are saying is correct, that we have God and his angels to protect and help us, this statement up for discussion here cannot be totally correct, unless God and his angels are really a part of us, within us too. Some people think that we are God, or at least a part of him. I think we can connect to God, and that that possibility is within us, but we are not all of God, we are not God, we are ourselves as he created us to be us.

Yes, I found the card with this written on it in a book I bought in a second-hand shop. It was being used as a bookmark there. I think it's empowering too.

I think it is sort of plain living and high thinking though most prefer to live in planes and think when they are high! I feel the saying means we have the potential to reach our goals and we have been given the wherewithal to pursue them. Also our inner knowing is the best guide - siva

Hmmm... I think that is quote for success or something. It can be something to think about to validate your self worth, I think. Though I am kinda visualizing those anime or movies when a character is losing and closes his eyes and hears this "Everything you need is within yourself" then suddenly BOOM! They become very powerful to defeat the villain! Hahahaha! ^^

Ha Ha, that's a funny image. I think that if we dig down deep enough into ourselves, we can find the answers to most of our questions. It's like I'm in Australia here, but they say if I dig down deep enough here I will end up in China, on the other side of the World ..LOL... Maybe it's in the digging, or the living of our life, that we unearth these answers either from within by recognising something we have already known within, or perhaps we feel a connection to some truth being presented outwardly to us that we know is true, but ultimately we know that even this comes to us because we are who we are within. We are always the ones to interpret these things for ourselves, and the skills of interpretation must be built in ourselves from our life experiences, I guess.
