Did you select your wedding gown with anyone?

In western countries, it seems that it is bad luck if the bride groom sees the wedding gown before wedding. So I assume that the bride will select the wedding gown with her best friends or mom. We don't have this belief here. Actually my husband and I prepared everything for our wedding together. We went to select my wedding gown, his suit, restaurant etc. together.

I didn't know about that! This is the first time I heard about this. Same as you, my husband and I prepared everything for our wedding together too. Though some said the groom and bride shouldn't meet up the day before or 3 days before (I don't remember all these exactly), we still met up with each other.

@youless It's always good for us to learn about other cultures. Glad that we have Internet now, so even though we have not been that country, we can still learn about them. And movies, of course!

It is bad luck for the groom to see the bride on the day of the wedding before the ceremony. Usually the groom doesn't see the dress beforehand either. My dress was made by a dressmaker and my Mum and I chose it as she was paying for it.

@youless When I got married (1971) it was custom for the bride's family to pay for the wedding.

Yeah, my sister and mom helped me with the dress. But my husband and I went together looking for his suit. He wouldn't be able to help deciding on a wedding dress anyway.

Glad that the custom doesn't say it is unlucky for the bride to see the bride groom's suit

Yes, I do. In selecting gowns especially for the special moment, I want someone see me or witness the style of my gown if how do I look when I wear it.
