I am reading a book called a Place called Freedom, author is (Ken Follett) about 3 familes coming from Scotland's coalpits to America to find a place in life and try to make their fortune. . This takes place in 18th century Scotland where there were lots of differences in class and weath but does this make any difference in the New World. I am going to let you decide for yourself on that.

@Marcyaz That's good to know. I might put it on my TBR list for next year.

I've read quite a few of his books, he's an easy reading author with some decent stories. My favourite by far is Pillars of the earth. I quite liked the century trilogy too although he skips too much time sometimes.

@Marcyaz You probably have but if you haven't already you should certainly try Pillars, it's a great book and there is also a tv series based on it that is pretty good.

Just tell us about it when you finish it . I usually would read then ending first before i start a book. I only love happy endings that's why.

@SIMPLD I do not read the ending until the end but I think this will have a happy ending.

It must be a great story Marcy. Yes life was a struggle coming over here for sure. Wealth or no wealth.

I have never read any of his books, but one of my grandsons has read them. It sounds like an interesting story.
