Suddendeath poetry challenge, Spring Forward

Centralia, Missouri
March 12, 2016 7:00am CST
Welcome to this weekend’s Suddendeath poetry challenge, Spring Forward. Rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you (could bold them for ease in others to find). Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are: spring, forward, time, pointless, sleep (can you tell what was annoying me this morning?) My entry is below: ------------------------------------------------------- Already tired I suddenly remember, Tomorrow my clock springs forward an hour. A custom that once supposedly had a point, It now simply makes most of us glower. How pointless it is to mess with our sleep, By spring forward, and fall back twice a year. Leave time alone, we already lose enough of it, A point our mirrors makes clear.

I cannot wait to spring forward, I am a fan of more daylight time. I don't sleep anyway, any day, I find it a pointless pastime.

@Jessicalynnt It is no bigger deal than changing your sheets once a week.

@AbbyGreenhill when you already have to get up at 445 in the morning, (after working 11 straight days) that loss of an hour of sleep is a huge deal! lol

lol, and I would love to stick with fall back, then again, I'd be happier if we could just nab one and stick with it, I hate the moving back and forth! Lovely piece!

I felt motivated by that day's post from @LadyDuck and decided to retry someday. I got the words here, had the idea but it just did not turn out to be what it should have been. Anyways, I am trying to get it out in open... With spring ahead I look forward to the time When we were together Should have been enough to give me sleepless nights But it is pointless as I suffer from Insomnia ever since you left

@Jessicalynnt Thanks for the appreciation. I was remembering the life with my late maternal grandpa and missing him so much, since the past 2-3 days. He loved spring because of the goodies it brings for us and the planet. The choice of words given by you helped me try.

spring, forward, time, pointless, sleep. The spring is here, but you're not. I want to fast forward time here at myLot. Why did you leave it seemed so pointless, I still don't understand what's the fuss! I hope your account don't just go into a perpetual sleep, Lost forever in a cyberspace that's not altogether that deep. Tribute: To my friend who legged it..

Hohoho! I personaly like it more than some my previous challenge poems The first spring day! Cold winter ended. From this day forward i will feel Fresh morning air filled with splendid Jasmin aroma, that will heal Spiritual wounds I'm possessing. It's reborn time. Time for reviving. It;s time for me to get God's blessing And watch spring flowers quickly thriving. It's pointless now to wait for blizzard. Big brown bears stopped their sleep. It seems to me that winter wizard Gave up. Frosts, blizzards, stop to weep!

I like how different we take the words, I was whining about loss of sleep, other sad over memories of those long lost, and you have one filled with the hopes of spring! I always watch for yours too, lovely piece

Spring cometh in a night's sleep, pondering such a pointless thought why such an event we keep, Alas, bid farewell to night's length, for time leaps forward onto Mother Earth's strength.

In the US spring tends to come early While in England the weather remains surly So to turn the clocks forward over here Would be pointless at this time of year For two more weeks GMT we will keep Before putting our winter to sleep

@Jessicalynnt I am pleased that you like it. I really should do more of the poetry challenges that you create, but I tend to copy down the words for later and forget all about it.

I cannot say I did this within the hour as I ran about doing my real life chores, composing one line at a time Brushing sleep I am up and awake For a moment my muscles do ache Time to move forward happily The lark chirping pointlessly Every step with a spring I take

the only reason I suggest an hour is to try to keep people from obessing about it, really the only fast and hard rule is the use of the words. you're fine! I like your tribute to the day poem!
