I once took a trip many years ago on a greyhound bus with 2 friends. It was an eye opening experience back then as it was my first time going to the Southern States. We started out in Ohio and went through Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. We stayed a night at each location except in Georgia we stayed a week with friends of my family. It was very exciting seeing the lay of the land so to speak... Now all these years later I have been to many more States and seen even more of this great Country of ours.

Never traveled much by bus and have never been on Greyhound, I have traveled a couple of times on National Express (UK's version of Greyhound). For touring I am not keen because you cannot simply stop if you see a place of interest, which is what you can do by car.

@pgiblett That is true in a car you can stop any place you want to but in a bus you are unable to do so.

@Marcyaz And by the time you can stop it has gotten too late to see it.

I have visited many US States, but we always rented a car, never made a Greyhound trip.

@LadyDuck There would be an advantage to being in a car you could stop when and where you want in a bus they have only certain stops and only for a certain amount of time.

@Marcyaz Yes, this is the reason why we always rented a car when we came to the United States.

I get nightmares thinking about my Greyhound trips. Waits in dingy bus stations in bad parts of town. Can't sleep because the buss stops every few hours. Not exactly the most desirable of traveling companions so take care of possessions.

@JohnRoberts I never had that type of experience traveling in a greyhound bus. In fact I met a lot of nice people on the bus.

I have never done that. I would however love to travel on a train and stop at different places.

@jstory07 It was so much fun and of course I was much younger then don't know if I would want to try a trip like that now.

Travelling is really fun. It sets one to be open minded and it is enjoyable as well
