I wear a Night Guard to sleep!

I was born with an underbite so during my elementary years throughout high school - I wore retainers, braces, retainers, braces, retainers. Once my teeth was straighten out* my dentist said I grind my teeth too much causing my enamel to thin out and could possibly be worse like: loss of teeth, loosen teeth, cracked teeth, etc. and recommended me for a night guard.
*During the long journey/years of having retainers/braces when it was time to not have to wear braces anymore and occasionally "retainers at night" to keep my teeth aligned - I neglected to wear my retainers so my teeth shifted a little. Now my night guard aligns my teeth to the way it is.. and I have a slight shift in one of my teeth which is quite annoying but all well.
In conclusion - I have had my night guard for over a year and the dentist sees no more wear on my teeth. I do see wear on my night guard though!
Do you have to wear anything to sleep whether it may be a Night Guard? Retainers? Sleeping Mask? Ear plugs?

that is so awful because you have those retainers in your teeth and is that forever now? during my younger years, there were no retainers, braces, and all, and we were able to chew our food well without much difficulty

It wasn't so bad because I had them at a younger age. I know those who are older with bracelets and it's painful because teeth has been more matured. I am glad my parents chose to let my teeth be straight

@infatuatedbby so now, you are not wearing any retainers and your set of teeth are straight?

@MGjhaud that'd be a good idea. mine too - so now I'm going to wear them to prevent anymore movement.

I never tried but I prefer my room to be black so I Can sleep better. I have blinds to be dark so when I need to nap ~ I could also.

@infatuatedbby I am thinking of putting blinds also .
But then , because we are in a tropical country and just have the windows open since they are screened anyway , we prefer thin lacy curtains so the whole room will be bright and alive during daytime .

@infatuatedbby No, I wore the braces when I was 8 year old, for 2 or 3 years. My teeth are perfect now.

My daughter grinds her teeth. I have to have a night guard made for her. The ones you can buy just don't work for her.

I wore one for years because I grind my teeth so badly when I sleep - but I think I'm over it now finally!

I'm with you, I wear retainers once a week because I had my teeth corrected with braces. It's something you just have to do for the sake of yourself.

Yes - I have to now because I don't want my teeth to shift anymore.

I've never had the need for any of those. I guess I'm lucky.

Luckily, i don't wear anything especially when I'm in bed. My eldest daughter used to wear a retainer but that was long time ago.

That is good you don't have to wear any extras for bed!
