I watched the replay of Junior Master chef season 4 on the Star network this morning and I just wonder how these little kids age 6 to 12 years young can cook and prepare dishes whose names are even foreign and incomprehensible to me. I could not even fathom the words shown on TV but pronounced so different from its spelling, and these kids pronounce these with much ease. Even the mixing of some ingredients so unknown to me, and how quick they think of the dishes they are going to prepare, I could not really understand. I appreciate their parents for teaching these youngsters for cooking, but I am still in awe about their mastery in food preparation. Are you watching the junior master chef or any other cooking reality shows? Chef Gordon Ramsey is the best, don’t you think so? I also wonder what dish can they prepare with these live small crabs in my picture. i bought these last year while i was still a bubbler.

@ridingbet Oh my , i like that one kind of cooking also . Really , can we eat the heads ? Hay naku , i would also surely eat with my hands specially that the vinegar is spicy . Actually , good thing i ate an early lunch , or else i would be salivating reading this .

@SIMPLYD I prefer this kind of cooking the talangka over the one with coconut milk. I usually get loose motions (LBM) when I eat foods in coconut milk in large quantities. I eat the heads, but those small ones lang. straight from the pot and with a big handful of rice, I eat them. Hahaha!

that is yummy, my lady, but my sister just put some salt and ground pepper and little water and let it boil. It was so delicious that I ate practically all, including the head of the crabs. Not I finished all, but I ate my share of the talangka in whole and with lots and lots of rice. I also dipped them in vinegar with 'siling labuyo', and ate them with my bare hands.

I don't watch it as a rule, but I have seen a couple episodes and the kids are amazing. They are all future chefs.

@ridingbet It's a shame they got tossed. It might be a blow to them now, but they have a secure future. The fact they were on the show will look great on a future resume. They might also try other competitions in the future.

The latest episode was aired last night at 7PM. We were not able to watch it because it was also the evening news. I saw that Asian-looking girl and another kid (African-American boy) got sacked out of the competition. I want to see its replay today. Indeed, these young chefs already have a future.

@just4him yes, and I expected the Asian girl to be in the final 3. I guess a very small detail of error was closely looked at and upon by the 3 chef/judges. Their resume with being a part of the cooking competition is indeed a plus when they apply for jobs in the future

actually, I bought that when I had my AM duty in the hospital, and on my way back home, I dropped by a talipapa (flea market) when fish and other sea foods are sold. \these crabs were still alive. I am in awe too when kids cook delicacies, an I hope they also prepare dishes with these small crabs so I can cook too ( ).

@MGjhaud well, it still depends on the availability of the ingredients, my dear

I am not watching any cooking reality shows, as we do not have TV at home now. I always think kids can really do more than we expected. It's always good to teach the kids to cook or bake, or do anything with their hands. I have learned that it's not only good for their handwork skills, but also good for their brain development too. So I always think kids shouldn't just sit down and study, but there are more ways for them to have fun and learn at the same time. I wish I can cook as they do too, I am not good at cooking.

well, I join you, hijo. I also cook simple dishes, and not like what we see in the restaurants. Simple Filipino dishes only.

@LadyDuck the channels here also show some reality series with Italian chefs preparing dishes, and I know they are European because of their accent/twang; their voices 'pass through their nose', if I am not mistaken.

that is good. So, he can prectically 'invent' new dishes from oddly mixed edibles, right? and make his own signature dish. cooking at an early age is fun especially if you put your heart into it.

I missed the episode last night. the replay is at 8PM, but simultaneous also with 'probinsyano'. Guess I have to watch the latter because they don't do replays but star network does.
