Idly is the life of a south Indian. Chennai is the motherland of Idly. there is no exaggeration if I say that most of the people in Chennai prefer it as their breakfast and there won't be any day left without serving it in their breakfast. Idly is made of Idly rice. This is a fluffy breakfast item that goes finely with a combination of sambar. The sambar is a liquid rich in water with a lot of spicy ingredients and will be giving out very strong and sweet smell with fumes coming out when poured over Idly. The curry leaves and black pepper are the main constituents of Chennai Sambar. Idly is highly preferred because 1. they are easy to prepare 2. easily digestible 3. free from oil 4. very simple to cook 5. it is cooked only with water vapors 6. It does not give the problem of bloating stomach 7. though it is a poor man's diet it is being shared equally even by the rich. 8. It can be kept in a container and can be carried to office as a lunch Nowadays there is no Hotel in any city of India where Idly is not available.

I agree with you except the point on No. 7 :"...it is a poor man's diet..". No longer it is a poor man's diet as the cost of gram used for making idly made a record already. I reduced the frequency on making Idly or dosa just because of the rise of the cost of Urad dal .
