Italki or is it Italky?" Either way, it's a website where you can go to learn a language. Real people, sometimes with teaching credentials, teach you how to speak in the language of your choice. You pay a somewhat reasonable amount (I think the lat time I looked one course was around $20.00.)
I have thought about doing that but the language of my choosing only has the one teacher to choose from. I like to have variety so I may look for another website. I know that there are several out there.
My problem is that I can retain a lot from language but need the real life experience of talking in that language. I learned a lot of spanish that way, being surrounded by the language and in some cases, only speaking the language. A couple of years went by where I moved to a rural environment and stopped speaking spanish completely. I don't care to learn it again, atleast not right now.
I've been listening to music and watching youtube videos in the language that I have chosen to "obsess over" but am seriously thinking of finding more programs and books that will help me to immerse myself in the culture and language.
I've currently no friends that known the language or are interested in the language. I've had friends in the past who have expressed some interest in it but I don't believe they are attempting to learn anymore.
What hurts? This language is one of the oldest languages and yet it is in fear of extinction because too few speak it in it's country's origin.
Anyway, I've got a few good leads so far on study materials, and hoping I can find other ways to immerse myself. I haven't looked, but doubt there are any courses being taught in my area. There are whole schools dedicated to it in another country though.

So does he fancy himself a polyglot? (knows multiple languages).
I love going on youtube and listening to the polyglots. There is one that is sponsored by babbel and he and his twin brother know a lot of languages. It's amazing to hear them speak.

Well I hope the site works for you it sounds reasonable. Nicetalk is a site kind of like that.

I heard about that, but you are teaching them English, right? You get paid on that site if I am not mistaken. I probably won't end up using Italki because I want to be able to have more options of "teachers".
Unfortunately I couldn't use NiceTalk because the language I want to learn? Most speakers of it are very fluent in English already.

People learn in different way. I would try googling for lessons make up this way. It is sad that some of the languages are being lost. Native American ones are too.
