What Are The Top Five Places I Would Like To Visit?

United States

I’ve tried to narrow this down to FIVE places, but it wasn’t easy. There are so many other places that I would like to visit, but here are my TOP FIVE. 1. Australia: I want to go to Alice Springs and I want to see the Alice River. I said before in another post that I read the book and saw the mini-series, “A Town Like Alice” and I want to go there, even though I know it’s pretty much in the Outback and there’s not a lot to see. I also want to visit Ayers Rock in Australia. Have you been there? 2. Paris: I have not been to Paris. I have heard good and bad about that city, but I would like to go. Have you been there? 3. Rome: I have not been to Rome either. I want to see that whole area. I’ve heard so much about it. Have you been there? 4. I want to ride a Paddleboat up the Mississippi River and stop in Memphis to visit Graceland, Elvis Presley’s home. Have you ever done this? I would also like to go on a River Tour of the Danube River. 5. I want to ride in a Hot Air Balloon over Napa Valley and visit the wineries there. Have you ever done this? Those are definitely my TOP FIVE. But, there are other places, like New Orleans. Oh well, someday MAYBE, I will get to go. What are your TOP FIVE?

This would be guaranteed to be a difficult list to compile because as you rightly say there are a vast number of places that most of us would love to visit.

Think about it and try to choose just FIVE.

@IreneVincent That would be virtually pointless because there would be many places other than whichever five I chose that I would equally like to visit.

These all sound great choices. I'd like to see Ayers Rock one day. The aboriginal name for it is Uluru.

Yes, I knew it was Uluru. How far are you from there?

@JudyEv Yes, that's a VERY long way. I hope you get to go see Uluru some day. I know I never will get to see it, I'm sure.

@IreneVincent We are 3,762 kms from Uluru. That's 2,337 miles roughly so it's a long way.

You did mention FIVE places. I've never been to Italy and would love to visit Rome in particular. So, much history there and ruins to see. I've been to Los Angeles and New York a few times. And I lived in Okinawa Japan, landed in Tokyo one time but never really got to visit the mainland of Japan. I did get to see Mount Fuji from the airplane. I've been to Germany but not to Berlin.

@MGjhaud I see. However, Los Angeles is about 3000 miles from New York. L.A. is on the West coast and NYC is on the East coast.

Funny, an old high school friend of mine whose name is Alice now lives in Australia. I really want to go to the tropics. Obviously going back to Hawaii is on the top of my list but I would like to check out places like Fiji, Costa Rica, St. Thomas and all those islands there. As for the other side of the world, I want to see Ireland and its castles and England (and its castles too) because that is where my father's parents were born. I also would like to take the Mountaineer train ride. It is a train trip that goes through the mountains and prairies of Canada making stops along the way, just like a cruise. There are different routes of different lengths but I would like to do the whole thing.

@IreneVincent Wow! You are one well-travelled lady. I'm jealous. I went out west when I was 9 (Vancouver, Alberta), Florida a couple of times, Los Angeles once, Las Vegas once and Hawaii once. That's it, besides other Canadian destinations which weren't really for pleasure.

@patgalca I would never have been able to afford all these trips, so I EARNED them from the company I worked for. I've also been to 44 of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

The train ride through Canada sounds like something that I would also enjoy. I've been to many of the Caribbean Islands: Jamaica, Aruba, Grand Cayman, Bahamas, Bermuda, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. John, Puerto Rico, Haiti and also to Cancun and Cozumel Mexico. I love the islands. These were ALL trips that I earned FREE for being a top sales person with the company I worked for, selling jewelry. I would also enjoy seeing the castles in Europe. I've been to Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and London. The only castle I saw was in Liechtenstein.

I have been to Paris, but not the other places on your list. I have traveled to some places already that I wanted to go to, but the places that I really want to go now would be 1) China...cool and exotic 2) Italy nothing not to like about it..3) Quebec City in Quebec of course 4) The big Island Hawaii to see volcanoes National Park 5) The Via Rail across Canada. There are also several places I would like to go back to as well.

Nice list. I've been to just one of the places you mentioned and that's Hawaii. I've been there twice. Once, just a stop-over on my way to Japan and the second time, an all-expense paid trip I earned from the company I worked for, for TOP sales.

@jackchun China is another huge country that would take a long time to see all of it. Even the Chinese probably haven't seen all of it, just like I haven't seen all of my own country. I have seen a LOT of it, but there are still many places I have not seen.

@jackchun I lived in Okinawa for 18 months, a long time ago and we had U.S. military friends there who had been stationed in Taiwan. They told us some about living there. Beijing would be fascinating I'm sure and Shanghai, also. Macau would also be a nice place to visit.
