Its a great day for the Irish! Top of the Morning to you!! "For each petal on the shamrock This brings a wish your way – Good health, good luck, and happiness For today and every day." "May your blessings outnumber The shamrocks that grow, And may trouble avoid you Wherever you go." "May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live" We are all kitted out in Green this morning to celebrate our Heritage Tradition in a land far away and to conclude my Irish festival of Savings I give you one certain fact - There are NO snakes in Ireland: "You’ve heard I suppose, long ago, How the snakes, in a manner most antic, He marched to the county Mayo, And trundled them into th’ Atlantic" The Irish pilgrims are all over the world - to all of you that are not nestled in the Homeland - Have a Glorious Happy St Patrick's Day !!

This is the second post that I have seen about St Patrick's Day so far. The first was by a member in Malaysia and now one from South Africa. This demonstrates how globally well known the date is. I wonder how many members will be aware of when St George's Day arrives next month?

@Inlemay I get annoyed every year that so many English people know St Patrick's Day but not St George's Day.

@Inlemay The reason is simply that the Irish make a great effort to celebrate their Patron Saint, which makes everyone aware and the date sticks in people's minds.

I used to host parties today, but no friends live nearby so no one to come. Was quite fun, and maybe some day will do again

I still haven't visited Ireland! Maybe this year, but it isn't on my six day, six city, four country super budget European tour that I have planned (but that I can't get anyone to come with me because everyone thinks I'm mad.)

It's a great country, isn't it? I haven't spent a winter there but have had some very enjoyable times in Ireland.

@Inlemay Waterford is lovely. There are so many lovely places in Ireland. It has a surfeit of them.
