In 2015, we toured Ireland, United Kingdom and some of the European countries is our motor-home. We had a GPS but unfortunately it didn't allow for our non-standard height and width. We knew precisely how high our vehicle was and always checked the height of tunnels or underpasses carefully before proceeding. Our GPS took us down some very narrow streets and roads. At times we needed three seats in the front so I could be beside myself but after a month or two I got more used to the narrow roads and didn't worry quite so much. This photo was taken in a village along the Rhine River in Germany. Aren't the flower displays lovely? And I did love the cobbled streets. I don't think this was a one-way street but luckily no-one came the other way while I was taking a photo of Vince driving towards me.

@Juliaacv @amadeo It was a very pretty section of street. We had to be careful not to get somewhere where we wouldn't be able to turn around.

That is a pretty street and clean looking with the flowers but oh so narrow. I wouldn't want to drive through there.

@JudyEv I absolutely hate to drive when streets are so narrow. I would not like being there at all.

@Marcyaz In the narrow streets with tall buildings there was a lot of noise from the vehicle which made it worse.

They are beautiful aren't they? And it was like that nearly everywhere - window boxes and planters - very pretty.

Yes the tiny roads and streets must have been quite something for a motor home Judy. It is lovely the quaint villages and all over there.

We stayed off the motorways and highways and kept to the countryside as much as possible.

Would love to tour another country, but my worse nightmare are places where the roads are narrow. I have a small car here in the US and sometimes I get nervous on back country roads, especially during the winter. and the flowers? Gorgeous!!! I love that old time look.

Our motor-home was quite large to try and turn around so the narrow roads were always a bit of a worry.

The picture is awesome and it gives us an idea of a narrow street a village in Germany. It seems less than a normal street. It seems that it is walking path and not meant for vehicles.. Needless to say it appears only one way street.

It looks like it was meant for donkeys not big vehicles like ours was - but we came out safely the other side. :)

@dpk262006 No, unfortunately. We saw most donkeys in Ireland. I was always on the lookout for horses and donkeys.

Those harsh looking buildings have a touch of softness with those beautiful flowers. Talking about narrow streets, have you heard about the crooked street in San Francisco. The street was pointed out to us but we did not get a ride on it.

I'm sure they have them everywhere but if you're following instructions from a GPS you can't always avoid them.

@Marty1 We have a lot of roadworks in our area too. Every time we go to town we have to wait for ages for the queue to be given the all clear.

@Marty1 Bridges under repair are always tough. I always wonder whether the city ever considers the real impact on those who rely on those routes.

lol I can well imagine the difficulties with the motor home. One year we hired a mini van and we had much difficult with the narrow streets in Germany especially in the cities. Yikes!! Parking too was problematic. The towns weren't designed for vehicles of this size.

@JudyEv I remember in Munich with the minivan we had to return it under the train station, oh dear lord, we had inches above the top!!

Parking was a nightmare mostly. We tried to shop in the small towns. In the UK and Ireland there were a lot of height barriers too.

@BelleStarr That is so scary. We had four inches clearance under one bridge. We crept under as any roadworks could easily have added four inches to the road.

Touring Ireland and the UK in an RV sounds like a perfect way to spend the summer. My wife and I just bought a new travel trailer, our first step-up from our popup and will be taking our first trip in two weeks.

@JudyEv We our very excited about this first trip coming up soon. Last evening while it was still light we were already starting to move some items into the camper and checking out the features to make sure we know how everything works. We're like two kids with a big new toy.

@DWDavis It becomes a bit like that, doesn't it? We've had the bus at the mechanics getting an oil leak fixed and a smoking problem repaired now it's 'hot to trot'. I've made the bed and started moving non-perishable food into it. We will be living in it from the Thursday before Easter to April 4. Can't wait! :)

@Jessicalynnt That's true. We had a RH drive vehicle so going round the roundabouts on the continent, I could easily take photos of the decorated centres. Once we were back in the UK and Ireland it wasn't so easy.

@JudyEv My son rented a manual car in Ireland last year on his first trip to Ireland. He not only had to shift with his left hand (unheard of in the USA), but was shocked at how narrow the roads were. We had to laugh.
