Stick up for yourself, don't give up

In late January my husband bought a new golf car, it's actually a Club Car Utility Vehicle so it's got much more than a basic golf cart. Since that was winter time the cart didn't get much use. Now that the weather is using it much more.
Over the weekend he noticed that battery acid was coming out of the battery and it is eating away some of the metal on the cart. He has been a mechanic since a teenager, so he knows about engines, batteries, etc.
He called the dealer we bought it from and told him the problem. He said the voltage regulator is running to high and the battery is literally bubbling over spilling acid. The guy said he never heard such a thing. He was to talk to a tech person at Club Car and call back.
The next day he didn't call, so my husband called him. He got the same song and dance. By then my blood was boiling over, this not a cheap piece of equipment and it only has 5 hours on it and it is under warranty.
Since I don't let moss grow on me, I called Club Car directly, got their warranty department and my husband explained the problem. The man took the serial number and all the information he needed to research the problem.
About an hour later the dealer called. We don't know if Club Car contacted them or it was coincidental that all of a sudden they new what the problem was. It seems that they had a 'battery problem' with some of the XRT 850 models...the wrong type of battery was used. The batteries are not sealed, which is why ours was boiling over, literally.
They will be coming here to pick it up either Friday or Monday. They are over two hours away from us. They will take care of the problem.
So, when something isn't right, and you get the run around, don't take it sitting down. You have to stick up for yourself. We do think it is odd that the dealer 'discovered' the problem after we contacted the company!
Photo is mine.

When I don't receive an answer to a problem like that I also go directly to the person in charge and will keep calling until I find someone who can answer my question of what is wrong and how they are going to resolve the problem. I don't take it sitting down.

In Today's world you have to look out for yourself, no one else does.

I hope they weren't trying to play dumb and think you guys won't be calling them to follow up. But ~ yes, anything under warranty, I will call until they have my answer corrected! Luckily there is warranty! But sucks they weren't accommodating and didn't keep their word the first time around. I hate listening to the annoying hold music.

I don't think he was on hold, so no problem there. Even tho there is a warranty it doesn't mean any and everything is covered, that's how they get you.

I wanted to make sure it was covered by warranty in case the local guy kept giving us a song and dance.

Thanks - I wasn't going to take no for an answer. This isn't a cheap item.

If you do, people will take advantage. It took me a long time to not allow that to happen.

I remember calling the store I bought my washer in and when I complained it was leaking on my floor the woman had the balls to say its in your basement isn't it? It did get fixed after I had a hissy fit at the store and discovered the woman and the repair man were married and making money every time he came to a house to not do a repair. They were fired... Glad your cart is going to be fixed.

So according to her it was ok to leak since it was in the basement - that's rich as my mother used to say! It hasn't left yet,but it's on the schedule for Monday.

If there was someone closer we would have. We live in the boonies. Not many dealers around.

Good for you and your husband! I have to wonder about these sales/service people sometimes. My car has a recall on it and I am wondering if they knew this and I didn't. Maybe this is why they were so eager to "unload" this car? Of course, I could be wrong...

Most cars have had or do have a recall for one reason or another. Ours was only two weeks old when we got the first one.
