Part of today's exploration was tracking Charles Dickens to one of his favourite restaurants, Rules on Maiden Lane. Opened in 1798, Rules claims to be the oldest restaurant in London, there are others with a longer pedigree, but they started as pubs or have moved around.
It is said that Dickens, when dining, would gaze upon the old boot blacking factory he worked in as a child, which is where Embankment Tube Station now is. I don't think it would be possible to see because of intervening buildings.
Apart from Dickens, many famous people have eaten here, including HG Wells and Charlie Chaplin. In the dining room upstairs 'Bertie' The Prince of Wales entertained his mistress, the actress, Lillie Langtry.

I love the man in front. It makes it so special Ron.
I seem to recall hearing of this very old restaurant before.
It is a wonderful photo, did you eat there?

Only you possess the keen knack of uncovering such info! Did you partake of its refreshments?

There is a bar in Downtown Denver that Jack Kerouac hung out, but I've never been able to get there.

@Ronrybs - On the Road would be the place to start.

@teamfreak16 I have a water bottle labelled On the Road. Don't know how that fits in!
