It finally broke, YAY!!!

Who is this crazy person who is happy that something broke? Well, I'll tell you. I wrote before about my car having a chronic starting problem that the dealer can't ever diagnose. They replace this, they replace that, and it keeps on happening. I had emailed the service manager to see what he suggests, and he basically said that until the problem is severe enough that it comes up on a diagnostic, all they can do is replace things until they get it. I decided to just wait until it broke. So on Thursday, it took about 5 minutes before it would start when I was leaving PetCo. Then it took two tries later that day when I was picking the girls up. Friday morning, and again when I left work, it took about 5 tries. It seemed to be getting more consistent. I took Dearra to get her new glasses, and when we left it literally took half an hour to start it. When we got home, it wouldn't start at all. This morning it wouldn't start, so we called AAA and towed it to the dealer. I told them that this time they would find it. The service advisor comes back and says, "it started". No way. But yes, when it got off the tow truck it started once, but then when he turned it off and tried again it wouldn't. So now it is sitting there waiting for them to get it on a diagnostic, and I have a loaner car. What are the odds that they won't find the problem this time?

Let's hope they can find what's wrong, it must have been annoying for you not knowing if it was going to start.

Very annoying. Usually it wasn't hard to deal with , because it would start on the 2nd or 3rd try, but when it took longer it was very inconvenient.

If it is chronically doing this you should check into your state and see if the dealer will replace that lemon with a good vehicle. Some States have a Lemon Law.

@dawnald I have been told if you have to keep having it taken to the dealership for the same problem over and over again then you should be within your rights to tell them you want a different car.

@Marcyaz "As of January 1, 2001, under California Lemon Law, a vehicle is considered a Lemon if it fails two attempts at repairing life-threatening defects. " Not sure this qualifies...

I'm not sure lemon laws cover something like this where it works most of the time, but occasionally won't start. But it could be worth looking into.

@dawnald I agree with @JolietJake.When they test it will start on the first try.So they will say there is nothing wrong. And when they are gone and you want to go some place,it won't start.

First of all - BITE your tongue. But second, they can't say nothing is wrong, because it wouldn't start for them on the 2nd try.

I would think that they have to find the problem this time.
