I know what you are thinking (If you are even reading this).. "So What?" "Great , Do You Want a Cookie?" or even "Who cares?" This is actually my first time EVER straightening my hair. I've curled it, but never straightened it. Oh and yes, I'd love a cookie thanks. A family member was looking through a catalog with it in and I expressed that I'd like to have it. I woke up one day with her telling me that the package had arrived, I wasn't aware she had bought it for me. I wasn't able to get to straighten my hair until tonight, but I love it a lot and think I'll do it again tomorrow before work!

I had my hair long a few years ago hatley, but chopped it to my shoulders because I was working as a banquet server. I went to the orientation / training for banquet serving with long hair and arrived at my first day of work with short hair. One of my co-workers was sad that I had cut it all off. I am going to keep it growing now, but it gets difficult to handle after awhile.

Looks nice! How is your hair normally? I have thin straight hair ~ always want to curl it but it never stays curly unless I put ultra hairspray and I don't want that since my hair is currently thin and shedding like crazy!!

@infatuatedbby I took medicine as a child that encouraged hair growth, my hair has been thicker than most in my family because of it. Let me clarify, the medicine was for another ailment, but the side effect was hair growth.

My hair does not want to curl unless I put a lot of product in it. My hair is naturally sort of medium / thick. I normally just brush it and go.

Thank You. I usually just brush it and go about life. I don't really go all "girly" with my hair.

@ScribbledAdNauseum oh the simply straight? I was thinking about getting one of those, they're at Sally's too. I think Bed, Bath & Beyond has them too.

@TheDemonicAngel Yup that is the one. It works for me and you can control how hot you want it which is nice. I don't know if it's easier / faster compared to regular ones though as I've never used a straightener myself.

Thank you. I like this straightener a lot. I have friends who straighten their hair ALL the time, but they have naturally curly hair so there's that.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Are you using a flat iron?

@TiarasOceanView IT's called "Simply Straight." it's like a flat iron but it's technically a brush that heats up. You do brush your hair out first.

Very pretty. My hair is straight straight straight already. Sometimes I wish I had a little wave in it at least. I used to have a perm, but it didn't take unless I scrunched it with gel. That was kinda cool because I had the best of both worlds.

I haven't permed my hair but only because it seems like every other female in the family has had problems with permed hair. It doesn't last, for instance. Had a cousin go get hers professionally done? It was gone by hte next day.

@T_gray I like "waves" more than anything though. I've never been a girly girl, which is why I haven't flat ironed my hair at all until now!

My daughter got me hooked on straightening. My daughter has the thickest hair you'll ever see... I mean OMG is it crazy thick! It's also pretty wavy.. and no matter what you do to it, it just always looks unkept. You could brush it all day long but it will frizz and poof and look like you haven't run a brush through it in a week. So her colorguard friends suggested she straighten it, and she asked me to get her a straightener. So we went to Walmart and bought a cheapo straightener and I gave it a try. My hair isn't wavy, but it is a bit thick, and when it's just washed it gets poofy. If I go a day or two without washing it then it looks great but I don't like going to work without washing my hair! So I tried it and loved it. Then I turned around and bought a better straightener and now she uses the cheap one I got and I have a nice $50 one I got at Kohl's using Kohl's cash and didn't actually pay a dime for.. And I've been getting tons of compliments on how nice my hair looks! Hers also looks really great when it's straightened... but it takes her so long to do it. She has started only washing her hair 2-3 times a week so she doesn't have to straighten it as often.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I tend to wash mine most everyday except weekends. It looks too limp if I don't, and plus I'm neurotic about smelling bad. Occasionally when I'm really tired or running short on time I'll skip washing it and just wear it in a pony tail.. but generally I wash it every morning, blow dry it, and straighten it.

@katsmeow1213 You can condition it to help it smell good. I've heard it's good to let the oils build up in your hair somewhat. I've also read about conditioner first shampo second. I couldn't do that as the shampoo would make my hair knot up and I can't stand under the water all day to rinse every bit of shampoo away. I leave the conditioner in for two minutes as is before I rinse it out. I am waiting for a shampoo and conditioner from etsy to arrive. It's coming from my state of NC but I think they make it by the order so it may be another week before it gets to me. Anyway, I am going to try it. I am not sure whether I said or not, but I use avalon organics now but it doesn't seem to be working as well for me so I am going to try something new.

I have read and been told that you really don't need to wash it every day. 2-3 times a week is pretty good. I have always just brushed it and went. My mom used to sit me down and put her curlers in my hair on a weekend night, this was when I was watching Saturday cartoons and probably around 5 years of age. Other then that I can count the amount of times I've had people mess with my hair, and myself mess with my hair. I am very much the brush and go sort so I can't really say how difficult my hair is to manage. I've been told I have very pretty hair. I know that product doesn't feel right in my hair so I try not to mess with it. In high school, two of my closest friends had naturally curly hair and had a time of it trying to keep it straight. They also had very thick hair. I was envious of them and they were envious of me.

Oh my goodness! I have always had long hair. Once I got a bee somewhere and decided to cut part of it shorter. I decided to perm the shorter part. Did that, hated it and someone mentioned straightener. It was a horrid experience.. The stuff smelled awful and I was paranoid that my hair was going to fall out. Be glad you only used the device and not the stuff.

I am guessing it's like this with all straighteners, but you use no product until AFTER you've straightened it with this one. I might get some sort of product to keep it straight longer but I'd rather look on etsy for that. I've had hair prodcut in my hair before and it takes forever to wash out! On another note, I've had my hair longer than this and intend to get it to atleast my midback. I've also had it pretty short but I don't like those cuts. I need to look around for a hair stylist.

Did it take long to straighten it ?

No not really. Probably ten or fifeteen minutes. I didn't focus on the back too much as I was just "playing around" with it. It didn't take long to heat up either which is great. You can control the temp setting as well. Pretty straight forward.

I have seen those brush straighteners on tv too. I had thought about getting one, but I don't have to money right now.
