I just got to know about this day from Facebook. It's to raise awareness of what Down Syndrome is and understand more about Down Syndrome. The date 21 March was chosen as it signifies the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. Some videos were also shared in the Facebook post I read, and one of the videos was recorded to a future mom as she has found out her baby has Down Syndrome and she was scared. A few children with Down Syndrome told the future mom not to be worried, as the child will also do a lot of things as other kids, though there might be difficulties, aren't all moms are having challenges with all their children? Reading that post and the videos from Facebook really made me cry. May all of us have respect, acceptance, appreciation and love with those have Down syndrome. You can find more about this day here: https://worlddownsyndromeday.org/

SOunds like the most perfect date to celebrate it, chromosome-wise.

Yes, I think that too. That's why the date was chosen, and it's a good day to remember.

I'm a nurse but I didn't know that the 21st of March is World Down Syndrome Day. People with Down syndrome deserves to be recognised and cherished. Despite the chromosomal difference, one thing doesn't change. And that is their humanness. Today's world is actually more accepting of people with Down's. A lot of them are slowly emerging and excelling in the modelling department. The world in this aspect is now valuing uniqueness and breaking stereotypes.

Yes, hope this will bring more awareness to the public, and more acceptance from the public as well. I guess the family, especially the mother is not easy at all.

Yes, I think it's really not easy for the family, especially the parents. The siblings also have to understand him or her as well.
