No Meat Day Today

As we all know, we the catholics are observing the Lent season. It is the time for fasting. We don't eat meat during this time. Most people will have fish or veggies for their meal. Today I cooked fried fish for lunch. This small fish is locally known as "Tawilis". This fish can be caught from the lake here in our place. This was freshly caught by the fishermen here in the neighborhood. Some wants it to be grilled but I prefer frying it so that it would be crunchy to eat.

No they were not dried. They are fresh from the lake here. Yes you're right. We dip them in soysauce with calamansi, chopped tomatoes and onions.

A lot, because they were tiny. One person can consume at least ten of them. They are really tasty.

I like fish. But as to eating or not eating meat: it doesn't matter. Lent is not in the Bible. Eating does not bring condemnation, neither does not eating bring holiness. Compare the Bible at Romans 14:17.

umm fish is meat. It is the flesh of an animal. Tawilis use to be super common in the Philippines until a stupid president of ours decided to free an invasive African fish known as Tilapia on our waters.

Some like it grill on a barbecue stick. But this one's much better. We dip it in soysauce with calamansi and tomatoes.

For my family, Lent or not, we prefer to eat fish and veggies over meat because we are watching our intakes.
