Star Bucks will donate all left overs foods to local foodbanks as they will team up with FoodShare to help distribute the food. To keep the food fresh the FDC will pick up the food in their refrigerated trucks. This will be in participating company-operated stores in the U.S. In the first year alone, Starbucks hopes to be able to provide nearly 5 million meals to individuals and families in need of nourishing food. They hope to be able to provide almost 50 million meals in the next 5 years.

All our main supermarkets donate food to charities, I think it's a good thing not to waste food.

@LadyDuck Tesco has recently agreed to do the same in England. It seems that last year they threw away over 55,000 tons of food.

@Blondie2222 It would be nice if most companies would think about helping the needy with their leftover food.

the ones here just have stale overpriced pastries, no real food, so I hope others have more food.

That's great news! I wish more places could do something like this! A lot of stores are very wasteful.

This is a very realistic use of the food that would otherwise go to waste.

I thought they only sold coffees. It is a nice thing to do with all the hungry people in this world. Good on them.

Yeah I saw that. Good at least it is something. I remember long ago when I worked at Mickey D´s I could not bear to see all the food thrown out going nowhere.

@TiarasOceanView I know because of the laws so much food is thrown out but now some will be given to people who can use it.

@Cintronwriter It is a good cause because the needy can always use more food. I agree other corporations should follow along with Starbucks.
