Make something out of what is on your doorstep. *don't take it literally, lol*
We are not financially rich, not born with a silver spoon in our mouth.
We are the one, who learn to make something what is available in front of us. And had it on the table.
Living in the province, vegetables are everywhere. A morringa tree as part of our fence, camote crawling and eggplant on the plant box and lady fingers too or okra. Not to mention those leafy vegetbles that grows anywhere when wet season is around---jute or saluyot in Ilocano or Tagalog.
We can make a dish out of those, and it taste best because.you know they are not sprayed with insecticides.
And i am thankful for being raised with those line coming from our parents. We won't missed a meal with it.
Do you keep a vegetable garden?
Do you always cook what is on it?

"dinengdeng, inabraw, pinakbet"--- some Ilocano dishes that we can cook with just a few of the vegetables we have in our back yard.

@Lucky15 I can eat thiose vegetable dishes before, my friend, but now no more because I cannot eat dark green leafy vegetables anymore. My blood should not be viscous nor fluidy. there are large amounts of vitamin K in those leafies that contradict to my Coumadin medication.

I might start my own vegetable garden again. I used to have it. But because of those chickens and with the changing season, I discontinued. But after Holy week, I am planning to start again. I just have to make sure I will have a fence because of our dogs.
I used to have lettuce, tomatoes and stringbeans. Yup, I cooked the stringbeans before, and made salads out of those lettuce and tomatoes.
The squash and ampalaya that I planted were not that productive.

@Lucky15 Yup you can plant them there. But it is not the variety which is like cabbage if that's what you're thinking. Get seeds of those leafy lettuce. Wait, I will try to search which variety I planted before.
Edit:
It's lola rosa or lollo rosso. The leaves are red, loose and grow upright.

I don't have a vegetable garden at the dorm. My parents don't also have one, though they have different plants here.
But, when I was 5 years old, my parents used to maintain a veggie garden. Yes, we used to cook those veggies.

Good to know about your success in your vegetable garden. I have tried too. In the good old days we had much too much but nowadays for whatever reason I do not see much success.

I was raised by parents who have green thumbs. Whenever my friends will visit me and will see all those plants and green vegetables, they will tell us how lucky we are. It is because there is no need to go to the market and buy expensive vegetables. Aside from that, we are also sure that what are we eating are really fresh. Because of that, I am very thankful for the parents I have.

No, I don't keep a vegetable garden. I remember when I was young though and we had this big backyard and when my grandparents were still in the Philippines, my grandpa used to plant papaya trees, squash, and some vegetables. They were harvested by my grandmom and she would use them to cook vegetable meal which i never got to taste since i didn't like vegetables.
You're lucky to have those organic vegetables around you.

You're already rich by having that vegetable garden, whats the point of having so much money if i can't even start a farm. Though I've seen here plant some veggies some of them did not survive.

I recognized that bloom. We do have a garden, now that we are old and moved to a smaller house, our garden is smaller too. My herbs are everywhere and I love tomatoes and zucchini. We also have rhubarb that comes up every year.

I live in an apartment, so can't have a vegetable garden. I miss it from when we lived in the country.
