I am confuse whether I should start my own blog or just go and look for online sites which will pay me a definite amount of money. For writers here, which works for you more? Is it writing articles on your blog or writing an article for someone else?

Yes, I think so. One will not only deal with the contents of his blog, but also on technicalities it cover.

@enlightenedpsych2 Yes, it definitely is. I have been always wondering if there are other sites like mylot too. I hope this site will stay for many years as it is entertaining, informative and useful too. I have been here for many years now.

I would like to have my own blog too. May I know what platform do you use on your blog?

@carebear29 That is nice. I guess you are one of the active members here. Definitely it will keep you motivated to do mylotting and blogging at the same time.

I think you can do both at the same time, there is no conflict between these two. To me, writing in my own blog gives me more freedom, I can just write whatever I like, whether long or short, I don't really need to follow any rules. Whereas when writing for others, it's a good opportunity to learn better and earn at the same time.
Moreover, you can also use your blog to make money.

Thank you Lee for the insights. How do you manage your blog? The challenge in having a blog is that once you put up a blog, you must be committed with it. It is like that blog is your boyfriend or girlfriend in which you must always visit and take good care of. I have been looking for money making sites that will pay on articles. I hope I can earn from it even though it seems I need a lot more practice when it comes to writing.

Why not both? Do articles and get paid while working on your blog with your free time. You can't make a living with blogging, on your early days, that is. It'll take time for your blog to get traction and generate some income for you. I have just started blogging, still on the works but getting there. Nothing in particular really. And that's the 'hard' part of blogging, the question of ' what will i blog about?' Well, what are you good at or what are your hobbies? Blog those. Remember, your blog is your web log of the things that you do and like.

Thanks for the suggestion. I also asked same question to myself. I love reading books and I love writing down my experiences visiting different places. This summer vacation, I would like to start on my own blog.

Oh, seems I don't have time to create my own blog. I prefer to write articles in some sites.

Could you recommend some sites where you are writing? I have been looking for some sites but have no luck yet.

If you just want to write your thoughts, then blogging is good.
If you want to make money as a writer and earn from writing, you have to learn about seo, and you have to decide whether to work as a ghostwriter or just to write informative article and publish online.
No matter what you choose, writing is hard work.

I see. I just want to write about my travels and book reviews since I love reading books. I do not know yet if there are some sites that will pay for review. I agree with you about writing. It really takes much effort.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I am really thinking of having my own blog where I can write all my thoughts and experiences. Do you also have a blog?

building up a blog could take a lot of time and effort to develop before you can make actual money. there are some writing sites where you could earn a bit faster. problem is, sometimes the payout is a bit high. and some sites would just stop paying their members all of a sudden.
The trick is, don't stick to one. You could start your own blog, while writing for others too. I found a site that people will pay you about PHP 200.00 per article, but I haven't tried it.

Yes, I think so it will take a long time before I can have my earnings in my own blog. I also read yhe experiences from other bloggers and that is what they said most of the times. Blogging requires hard work. Thanks for the response Pinay Ako :)
