This year, for the first time, mosquitoes are disturbing much in our place. Usually during the change of season, we see mosquitoes in our home but very less in numbers. They disappear soon too. But this year, at present, I really don’t know why there is a terrific attack by mosquitoes. I have seen them in a group. On waiting at bus stop or any out side place, if we stood for some minutes they started to buzz around us, not one but as a group. Many of my friends also explained how they disturbed with the mosquitoes bites. It seems government has not taken any initiatives to dealing with the mosquitoes. They start to think after spreading the disease like dengue, malaria etc. How you protect yourself from Mosquito bites?

We are also using the coils but not effective. We had an electronic bat which was good but the same is not working now. It is time to buy a new one.

@Sreekala The problem is that mosquitoes gradually get used to the smoke.

Mosquitoes have been a problem for us since many years. We spend a lot on Sprays, Coils(smokeless and smoky both), fast cards. We also use lotions or creams, and even used fancy patches for kids. I have read that burning neem leaves can tackle mosquitoes, but burning them will cause some suffocation. Yet if many people combine, they can perhaps try the neem leaf burning method.

same here for many years, but we are using mosquito repellents or we use smoke of neem leaves which is better for health than using repellents.

As I am staying in tropical country, we have been disturbed by mosquitoes almost throughout the whole year. I have always been finding ways to get rid of them as well. If you have to stay outside, perhaps you can try applying some mosquito repellent solutions. There are some commercial ones, but I am afraid my young children might get some side effects from them, so I learned to blend my own mosquito repellent essential oil. Actually I am not sure if that works, but my little girl seems to be more soothing after applying the essential oil, as the oil might be good for curing the itchiness as well. This is what I am currently doing so far. There are many other natural ways, I read that mosquitoes are afraid of the smell of garlic, lemongrass, and others (I can't remember all of them). I have tried them, but they don't work for the mosquitoes here. You might want to give it a try, or you can just search for the ways to get rid of mosquitoes, I am sure you'll get a lot of tips. I also thought of buying electric mosquito killer to put at home, but I haven't get that yet.

In fact, we never faced much problem like this earlier. We bought the electric bat for killing them. My elder son is so busy on chasing them at night with the electric bat in his hand. I agree there are so many solutions but when we faces the problem nothing seems to work

I guess wear bug slray and avoid marshy areas? That seems scary. Does the government do any type of mosquito controlling spray? We occasionally have airplanes that fly above lakes and spray anti-bug stuff which is kind of strange. Mosquitoes here really have not been bad for the last several years so I am lucky.

Here government volunteers do come and spray medicines for mosquitoes on open drainage and other water logged areas. They also do fogging. But this year, I haven't seen yet any worker for this work.

@Sreekala Fogging is less common these days. I think erratic weather patterns, high level of construction activities and stagnant water in adjoining parks, garbage dumps all of this lead to mosquito population increase. Measures like using modern techniques for garbage disposal, cleaning stagnant water can help in fighting this menace, but if the authority people are more concerned about making moeny and enjoying perk than working for people, how can things improve?

Our city normally sprays for mosquitoes so they aren't as bad as they could be. If they were bad, I would use a spray to keep them off, especially now with the Zika virus.

@Sreekala that is true. It also depends on the environment and making sure that all standing water is taken care of so that they have nowhere to breed.

@Jotomy You are very much right. We have open drainage near by place but every year it sprayed by government volunteers and I guess this time they have not come and done their duty.

@Sreekala now it is time for us to make our surroundings clean so that mosquitoes may not reproduce again. The wet places are unclean places will be closed with the sand or spray with some chemicals.

Yes the population of mosquitos have increased in our place too. Not only at night they buzz in the morning too. Even the mosquito coils, repellents seem to be not effective these days. It's hard to sleep at.night. Recently I have bought electric racket to kill them which is effective. I will suggest you to buy it if you want to sleep comfortably.

We bought and electric bat for killing mosquitoes. I hope once the temperature rises mosquitoes can't survive in that climate.

Thanks to global warming, we can expect to see many changes (bad ones) such as this.

Yes, global warning and changes are related and not on a positive way.
