~How Julian's Appointment Went~

So, we went to Julian's appointment today at the urologist. She reviewed the test he already had and she said if he was a girl they would put him on the antibiotics today for the UTI prevention since girls are more likely to keep getting them. But since he is a boy they are going to do another ultrasound on him to make sure the infection has cleared up completely. If it has cleared up 100% he is good to go. If it's not cleared up they will be putting him on antibiotics once a day until he is one year old.
The ultrasound should be the last test he has done...Hopefully.

I hope there is no more infection. I dread when babies have to be too much on antibiotics.

@DWDavis I am not a fan of that idea either, it worries me. I pray his ultrasound comes back good too.

@LovingMyBabies one of my kids took antibiotics for a year. He had ear infections that kept coming back. He turned out okay.

@amadeo First it was his heart they were worried about. Then, he went into the hospital because he had a fever and a Urinary tract infection-which made them concerned about his kidneys.

@LovingMyBabies What concerns me is that if he's on antibiotics for the next 10 months, I wouldn't think that's good because he would build up immunities to the med. They'd have to keep switching him to different ones. He'd then have a propensity for antibiotics not doing anything for him in the future if it became necessary.

So, it is not anything life long like they had feared before? The kidney thing had been ruled out right? Infection can be cleared out. I hope the ultrasound results turns out good....

@Daljinder The doctor is going to make sure with the ultrasound that the infection is gone and that his kidneys are back to their normal size. Hopefully everything will be okay and he won't need the medicine.

I have started reading and following up with your discussions and as such, I have not been on the earlier discussions about Jullian's health. But reading this I do hope that this ultrasound was the last test and he is now doing all fine.
The UTIs are quite scary as they keep returning back. My mom has it more frequently and sadly, the doctors here too do not have much idea of what to prescribe her the next time.
