It's Spring...tra la...Ah...choo! Got Allergies?

With weather in the 70s for three days now and flowers blooming all around, we know that spring is here. Hard on the heels of all this pleasant weather comes pollen and then the sneezles and blowing of noses begin. I started taking my allergy meds this week to ward off the pollen. I did not even think about it really until I awoke three mornings in a row with a very deep voice, but no cold or sore throat. Then the intermittent runny nose began and a few sneezes. Ahhh, I said to myself, "It is truly spring." I am hoping that I can control it well enough to keep the lawn mowed, I did that this week and then this morning washed both cars. I don't have it as bad some people do. They get headaches as well as other symptoms. Do you suffer from springtime allergies? Know any great remedies?

I do suffer from seasonal allergies. I take a prescription nasal spray to not get too ill with them. Last year I was down for the count. Didn't start the meds early enough. This year I am prepared.

@ElusiveButterfly I take the non-drowsy form or I may as well plan on sleeping a good part of the day.

Luckily I don't. It must be very difficult sometimes.

Yes, just until July usually. I used to have a doc who would give me a shot of cortisone this time of year and that would help a lot. But he retired many years back and the new docs are afraid of giving steroids. The old doc said once a year won't hurt you.

@JamesHxstatic Some doctors are very choosy about what they give you. I guess it is a good thing - except if you have hay-fever! :)

I'm so lucky that I do not get pollen allergies (or other allergies). One of my daughters does, and I know they make her miserable sometimes.

Phil, the Punxsutawney groundhog did predict an early spring. It seems your nose has confirm it's arrival.

My allergies are to mold and fine particles in the air (which are usually mold too). I thought I was allergic to pollen for years, but after a blood test (RAST) my true allergies were discovered. Mold and latex.

I have asthma, and my allergies cause it to flare. I'm feeling pretty miserable right now.
