Crutches

Crutches are basically, instruments or devices used to support one's self. A good example would be a walking stick used by the physically-disabled.
Now, believe it or not, we all use crutches in life, regardless if we are able to walk on our own or not. So you might ask, 'What do you mean Allen? What are you crazy?', I say that we all have crutches, things or in some cases, persons, that we use as an expedient... and by expedient, I mean, not necessarily a good one. LOL!
So here in myLot, I have used random thoughts and ideas as my 'crutch' posts especially if I have a hard time thinking about what to write about or if I'm coming back from a long lay-off from writing. Other myLotters have used the 'good morning/good afternoon/good evening' posts as their 'crutch' posts... and yet others use the 'What I had for breakfast/lunch/dinner' as their 'crutch' posts.
Of course, outside of myLot and in the realm of real life, we have are own crutches. Some use drugs, others alcohol, and some use... people. Now, how something that actually is meant to help people who need it becomes something or someone that people use to get ahead in dubious ways is a 'smh' moment for me.
What are your crutches in life?

@allen0187 I'll also go for a good walk and sometimes depending will seek out a resting spot to think things over calmly. It is the opposite of getting all hyped with coffee. I'm not sure if you would call that a crutch or not though?

@Bluedoll I think you can call it a crutch. Just my opinion.

Medicines indeed qualify as crutches. Sometimes, these medicines just offer a placebo effect.

You are right. We can't always move independently. Good thinking Allen! My crutches are the music, my laptop, and medicines.

I was supposed to use real crutches one time. I fell off a cliff that cause me to limp. I was given crutches, but I refused to use them. I still have a limp when I get really tired.
But I do know what you are saying I guess my crutch is my family.

Falling off a cliff... sounds like it has a good back story to it. Care to share?
Family... you can never go wrong there.

@allen0187 My mother, her boyfriend (back then), and I went to a local park. It was raining when we were leaving. I was trying to run to the car. I slipped on the walk bridge and fell down the cliff. I rolled between two rocks. I had to have stitches in my head. Afterwards my mother noticed I had a limp. My grandmother and her took me to a nearby doctor. I had a x-ray done, but they said nothing was broken. They gave me crutches, but I never used them.

My "crutches" in life are my family, friends, and belief in God.

Yes on the coffee... I'll pass on the patience. Not my best attribute.

@LadyDuck I know you meant to write 'best' but 'pest attitude' works as well...

@allen0187 It's also not my pest attribute, so I try to be more patient as much as I can.
