How do you clean your ears?

What a truly odd discussion I've made here. I was sitting here thinking about it though and wanted some thoughts on the subject. I clean my ears in the shower, I let the steam open them a bit and then I use a washcloth to clean the canal, not going into the inner ear obviously. I used to use hydrogen peroxide but I've been told it isn't safe to use. Someone once mentioned that she thought it was odd people used hydrogen peroxide (she actually said white girls but lol) and suggested I try witch hazel. I've heard mineral oil is a good way to do it but I've also heard bad things about that method too. My grandmother bought that as seen on t.v. ear vaccum before but it didn't do the trick either. What do you do to clean your ears out?

You do this to clean the wax out of your ear?

For the external ear I also use water, to remove wax I use a few drops of a commercial ear oil to soften the wax. You can use of baby oil or glycerin, they work too.

I get terminologies mixed up a lot. Isn't glycerin made from the same stuff they make plastic with?

@ScribbledAdNauseum No, glycerin (or glycerol) is used in medical care preparations, usually to provide lubrication.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I prefer to use the commercial oil drops that are made for this purpose.

Dr. Oz recommends mineral oil.
