Doctor's not around

Philippines

I was on the middle of the exercise when I was told to call the hospital and check on our doctor because grandma's having sore throat problem, coughing all over. Tried to call them but unfortunately there was no answer after three attempts. So, I decided instead of walk my way there. When I got there the guard told me they changed their contact numbers. As for the doctor, he's available until Thursdays, but yesterday he was available they said. Of course, when I got back I didn't tell them about that so grandma won't have another reason to be upset. His availability is usually wed, thurs and sat. Do you think there's remedy for her sore throat, I gave her bactidol. But I think it's the cold (aircon) inside her room, and extreme heat outside made her condition worse.

Hello @jaboUK I'm sure there's a remedy for it and she probably just wants to leave the house because she hasn't left in days.

Doctors are really busy. Sometimes even if they have their scheduled clinic hours you still can't see them since they are on call.

Sometimes the elders are much more afraid of the cold than heat. When my grandma comes here, she already wears long sleeves although it is hot outside. She doesn't like the air-conditioner and I have to turn on the fan with little wind only. Sometimes she says it is cold. I think besides some medicine, plenty of water and enough rest will be the best way to recover from the cold as I think your grandma may catch a cold as she has a sore throat. I hope your grandma will get well soon.

that is quite sad... a lot of homemade things can remedy a sore throat you can try ginger powder, or honey, or maybe strepsils? and lukewarm water

Gargle with warm water with a pinch of salt. I think this is like the Bactidol, bro.

It's not always easy to reach a doctor. They seem to be very busy. I hope your grandmother is alright and that's wonderful that you're seeing about her.

how about peeling a spring or young ginger and have her suck it? A ginger has a relieving effect on sore throat itchiness.
