A dog that's learning to say my name?

Tonight I had a little surprise. I was dropping my friend off after work. Her big dog ran up to greet her, he's a Shar-pei Lab mix, and she calls him the "curiously horse shaped dog." He's big. Anyway, she was petting him, and said "It's Roh. Roh," firmly. Then I heard him say, quite clearly, in a rather deep dog voice, "Oh." He seems a fairly quiet dog otherwise. Sure, I have a name that's pretty easy for dogs to say, but that one surprised the heck out of me! When I commented on it, she said "just wait till he learns to say the whole thing," meaning "Roh," of course. I wonder what I'll hear tomorrow night?

I think dogs are on the verge of talking. My old boss said one used to answer the phone when I was oversleeping. lol Do not ask me. As long as it took I away from his anger and disappointment. I was alright with that.

I've known cats to say short words too. It's funny when they do.

If nothing else from me you've learned how to speak with our fur people. I'm proud and pleased. What a delightful moment.
