Snapped in the Car Park

Car park bollard

Parking was never my strong suite, when I used to drive regularly, and it appears I am not alone. In the local supermarket car park, the footpaths are lined with these plastic bollards. More than few have been hit and snapped off quite cleanly at the base, but not many are neatly hidden away like this one. It is not just in the bays, but all along the paths plastic bollards are missing. Which makes you wonder just how safe you are walking in a car park.

I imagine the roads are narrower than most places? In my area, the roads are narrower than most other places. The bike land seems to take up 1/4 of the drivable space.

Yes, we do seem to have a lot of narrower roads. Still, to me that means we must take more care driving and that is what the UK highway code says. I think most people in the car park are looking for a parking spot close to the doors

@Ronrybs I see. I have a large truck so it's difficult to find a parking stall with enough room to safely park.

@Cintronwriter The bays in the picture can take a Range Rover, but I think it would still be a close fit

I think if the supermarket requires all of you to park parallel, there will be many accidents! At least the parking space looks big enough. Over here, the car park space is getting very narrow. If a large car happens to park next to your car, either you or your passenger cannot get into the car.

Lots of big cars over here, too. Some shops still have very narrow bays

I am pretty sure that it's not safe at all walking in a car park.

Maybe it's because you Brits don't drive as much as Americans hence "less practice."

I don't, but there are plenty of others who would live in a car if they could
