Do you have an idea to get rid of hiccups? I can't stop hiccupping and sneezing today. It would be funny but I am not having a very good time. What do you do when you have the hiccups? What is the longest time you ever had them? Do you have a favorite way to stop?

That is interesting. I do remember now that I heard about raising the hand. I wonder why that works.

That sounds painful. I hope you are feeling better now.

There are two ways that have worked. One is to drink from the other side of the cup holding the cup as usual and the other is for you to get a sudden fright and that is when someone suddenly raises their voice at you. Try it.

Okay, but I would end up spilling it all over myself.

Eating a spoonful of peanut butter works for me every time. Something about dissolving that sticky mouthful just makes them go away.

That is something I never heard before and never tried. I have peanut butter in the house and will try it if they come back. Thanks!

I always take a teaspoon of sugar and let it melt in my mouth. Works for me almost every time. Hubby swears by drinking a glass of water from the opposite side of the glass, meaning, you really have to drink it while leaning over. I tend to get water up my nose, but the hiccups go away, lol.

Water up your nose does not sound fun.

When I can't get rid of hiccups by holding my breath I will eat a little bit of peanut butter and that will usually do the trick for me. Hope it helps. Have a blessed day.

I haven't had the hiccups in a long time, which I'm thankful for. I don't have any sure cures. Seems I tried swallowing with my mouth closed several times and it helped. I read that tip somewhere years ago.

It seems that there are a lot of things to do for hiccups. I wish there was a way to keep them from happening.

I hate hiccups - water helps for me! The longest was probably like 10 minutes because I wasn't near somewhere with water.

I've tried holding my breath and sometimes it worked and other times I had to allow the hiccups to run its course.

As a kid, I swore by a teaspoon of sugar - only because I loved sugar. Having someone give you a fright is supposed to work.

They seem to be gone for right now. They tend to come back though. We'll see.
