In the news today is the story of a man who hit a bald eagle with his truck. He stopped and looked back to see it was laying in the road. He got out and with his safety vest he went back and picked it up. He brought it into the cab of his truck and called for help. Gar Sorgenson stayed holding the bird for over an hour until help came for it. What would you have done? Here is the story...... http://www.wfsb.com/story/31652795/low-flying-bald-eagle-hit-with-truck-picked-up-by-driver Image courtesy of Flickr.com Commons

Maybe the eagle was ill. There was no reason to have been flying so low.

Or maybe it was on the attack and not paying attention to the area.

@celticeagle Eagles are normally very much aware of their surroundings.

What a kind hearted soul to stop and do what he could to help the eagle. I was hoping to read that the bird did indeed survive. Sad that after his efforts that the eagle could not be saved.

I am surprised that a bald eagle would be so low. I appreciate that they swoop for prey, but would expect the eagle to be aware of the approaching truck.

@Asylum ....They usually fly much higher. it is odd. Makes me think something was probably wrong with the bird to begin with.

My aunt hit a deer one time when we were traveling. A trucker stopped and helped her. I was a child and remember it well. What a situation!

I might have called for help, but not brought it into my truck, if it came too and started freaking out it could have hurt me

It's great that he stopped to help. I think I would have, too, because I can't see an animal in pain without trying to get it help.

I am not sure I would have done as much as he did, I am not a bird person at all.
